That's an interesting statement, because I think John would actually disagree with it.
By any conventional measure it's true - he has access to less family wealth and has no contacts within the traditional halls of power - government and high-status professions.
But on the other hand, he personally has access to more wealth since Frank will let him blow more money, with fewer strings attached, than his family ever did. Frank's total outlay at this point is more than what John's parents paid for college, SOCCON, and probably rehab too. And he has access to the kind of people he cares about - people who are themselves of no consequence but are in "influencer" positions in the media. From John's perspective, being able to get a few scraps of attention and perfunctory head nods from a senator is not superior to getting the same from a big name on Twitter.
So, I think if you caught John in an unguarded moment, he'd say - and honestly believe - that his life is better now than it ever was in Drumpf-issippi.
