I'm pretty sure the band shirts are supposed to be a Beavis and Butthead reference (Beavis wears a Metallica shirt and Butthead has an AC/DC one)

I think that's way too deep of a reference for a show like this.

They were most likely just the first band shirts they found when they went to the local Target/WalMart to get some wardrobe for the show. Literally the most generic rock band shirts ever.

Basically. They're easy to find, not that expensive, made of durable material (thus cannot break like typical fragile figurines), have almost every character out there covered (any fave you have will at least have one Pop), and kinda look a little more appealing than the usual figurines who are always designed to look semi-realistic and thus a little scary/uncanny.

I noticed they put out one of Baloo from TaleSpin and already a few guys I know complained at his Walrus-looking bottom teeth, but still, they did do a fine job on the figure anyway.

My niece likes them- but then again, she is five years old and finds them to be cute. I got her the Dark Crystal set when it was being sold at the game store in town, after she kept bringing them over to me. Though I think it's only because she's obsessed with the movie and doesn't have any toys related to it.
 
What I've never understood about a lot of it is that it's not even aesthetically nice.
Like I had a friend who had "LOL SO NERDY RANDUM" roommates and their house was covered in framed comic books and we're not talking about back when comics actually had somewhat nice and well designed covers like the classic retro Batman covers, we're talking like.. 90s to modern comic books. It looked, so fucking shit.
Even to an extent I can understand people covering their houses in weebshit because anime stuff is cute and fun from an aesthetic standpoint, but framing shit like Cable and Deadpool, Hulk and X-force and whatever comics and having them all over your walls? Why?
Also the house was filled to the brim with marvel funkopops crap.
Art is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

The only thing I really care about when it comes to this is how standards people hold for works have completely dropped. The industry as a whole has learned how to market to all these dumbasses with just absolutely shallow formulaic nerd bait and now pop culture works as a whole just tend to be absolutely shallow fanwank on top of designed by committee extremely formulaic works and critics and fans just collectively cum over everything. Star Trek Discovery, MCU, Disney Wars etc. All just so fucking shit and shallow and yet critics and fans are wanking themselves furiously.

I've seen this posted somewhere around here at least once before, if not this exact topic. The art in this is so hit or miss, particularly with the realistically drawn characters. Like, Belle and Spider-Man look just fine, and the other two bridesmaids are good/acceptable as well, but Frodo looks off while Harry and the bride and groom just look bad. Really bad. And the fully cartoon characters just clash badly with the live-action characters.
