Remember back earlier in the thread when Phil said Twitch was about 50% of his revenue once he came back? He might go back to pre-Twitch levels, if the Youtube issues keep happening. Twitch might very well be the last fort, at that point.

Especially with how he keeps talking shit about YouTube as if he doesn't depend on it.
If YouTube really wasn't worth the time and money (let's face it we're talking about Phil, so it must be generating some money) then he wouldn't be doing it in the first place.

It's obvious that YouTube has to account for a decent 20-25% of his income, and without that and with a dwindling patreon he's going to have to use dem "street smarts" to survive in Renton.

Ban incoming for sure, but it does raise an interesting point - does Phil have any excuses he's not used yet? From "niche titles" to "weeb games" he's thrown a lot of reasons for his failings lately.

Do viewbots count as views for ads?
I highly doubt it. I'd imagine a viewbot uses the equivalent of livestreamer now streamlink - a program that can get a streaming video feed from sites like Twitch & pipe it to a normal media player like VLC - I use this to avoid all adverts & allow my 2008 potato to watch 1080p60 OK & 720p60 well, unlike in the browser. So for a viewbot you'd grab a low-res feed like 360p or worse & just do nothing with it - Twitch thinks a "viewer" is connected, but never gets ads etc.

Best bit: This wasn't even his excuse on Tuesday night. I'll upload the full almost 2 minute unrecorded stream outro, but the notable point is from 50 seconds in, DSP thanks for participation then calls it a "slow day" (almost $80 in cheers/subs including a single visible $5 tip for both Tuesday streams) and checks current stream attendance: "see, not many, 200" viewers, "I don't know what's going on" but the important bit is at 1:16 where DSP realises "Then again, I actually remember when I played the original Shadow of Mordor... the same thing happened, like peepul weren't showing up, peepul were just like not coming to the streams... maybe it's a game better to play than watch, I dunno, I like it".
Shadow of War is essentially an "UbiGame", a giant open world game with tons of side content. These can be fun to play, but to watch a raw unedited playthrough for 30+ hours... oh hell no. Viewers turned up, saw the game isn't a pile of shit within a couple hours & gave up.
DSP just can't accept that people don't want to watch his playthrough, therefore it's totally JIM STERLING'S FAULT & those greedy YouTubers just producing drama, it's all about the lootbox controversy, not my crap khantent.

The thing with day1 views, on Twitch (and even youtube) instead of competing with 50 other people, he's now competing with 50000 other people all bringing in their own takes. He appears on Twitch like some guy with a facecam making really BAD sex jokes doing longplays. People dont want to watch this on Twitch. People want to see a positive streamer. Not consistent 30 minute prestreams whining about how poorly he's doing or how he needs muh bits tips and cheers. This first half hour of his stream has poisoned the well of any potential new viewers/fans. His "I'm the most honest guy" thing is in the realm of oversharing.

And for those who DO make it through the prestream, they're met with belches and snorts, and either whining about how the game is bullshit, blatant disrespect for the game (if you have a fan of the game who wants to watch someone else play the game, you dont want to hear the 101 dev death threats, the poorly made comments, the mocking of the game's genre). These factors limit Phil to not attracting new viewers and new fans. He mentions that he's dependent on the "hardcore fan base" because of TIHYDP. As a streamer you can never be "dependent" on the hardcore fan base. Because he has a handful of "hardcore" fans (which I assume ones who tip, cheer, sub on patreon, buy a shirt, etc). And that kind of base is great, but if one or two of those hardcore fans either turn, get bored of him, get a schedule that dont permit them to be fans anymore, for whatever reason, that fanbase cannot sustain Phil. It doesnt matter how many BSVs or how many whales exist in that hardcore base, whales are nice, but they're not consistent to make your living. That makes for a nice "pocket change" environment but not one you can make a living from and certainly one you cannot count on.

Gods forbid one of his whales falls ill, that can tank Phil. And what's messed up, I dont think he understands this reality. I dont think he understands that the loss of just ONE whale can really tank his business. He still believes his business is trending upwards. When his streams consistently post sub 300 viewers, and sub 20 active participants. Ever watch a streamer with 300 ACTIVE participants? The chat flies by. Phils doesnt. It has 10-15 active people.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=J0z5acIappk here is the prestream so is phil just being contretion or is he so use to buying stuff in his mobile games that he is so used to it
Phil then:
"Uuuh! Professional Game Reviewers are shit dood! It's a toxic pactice that should not exist and it totally hurts my business! People should wait for Real Gamers* to give their honest views! *(Memememememe!)"
Phil now:
"Uuuh! I cannot believe how gullible people are! They're obviously all sheep don't know how to review games and it's hurting my business! People should just trust professional game reviewers* instead! *(Memememememe!)"

That video...

Imagine that Phil. It turns out that making a living off playing video games that anyone can play isn't that great of an idea.

Gee, I wonder why people wouldn't turn up for streams to watch some random guy play through a single player campaign??? I get that there's some 'market' for streamers, but out of all the people I could watch, and I don't really care for gaming streams, Phil has about the least interesting commentary going.

Not only that he's playing the most mainstream games going that are all hyped to shit. Why on earth would anyone want to watch Phil of all people playing these games? He tries to act as if he's put in some grand thinking strategy to pick these games. They're boring and so is he.

They're still convinced TIHYDP are selective clips edited just to make Phil look bad. That's why we have 2 or 3 people uploading the raw prestreams to prove that nothing's taken out of context

Nevermind most TIHYDPs run around 2 hours, versus going through 100+ parts of Phil trying to beat Sonic Mania or something else. Speaking of Phil's AAA fetish, I think this post needs a spotlight, since it foreshadowed the obvious back in July.

Yes... there is a negative light on you cause of the TIHYDPs, and not because of posts like this one.

Also, nothing makes me wanna donate to and watch this guy than being called an idiot, moron, stupid.

It's been pointed out before, but his negative reputation started before YouTube existed. He just went from having that reputation in the FGC forums and messageboards to having it in YouTube comments and streaming site chats.

He really can't accept that this stuff is his own fault. The best lack of self awareness I've seen lately was his whole bit where he tells people to go look at his views per month on SocialBlade after mid 2015, claiming that after those copyright strikes his views plummeted when they in fact did not and in fact had been on an existing decline for upwards of 2 years before then.

Lol Jim Sterling did gameplay videos of SoW and they're doing great

Wearing a "HATE THIS" t-shirt with an image of a middle finger. Nah, seems like a nice guy to me.

You'd think someone calling themselves The King of Hate would be able to handle all da damn dirty trolls.

Nevermind Phil's own lack of self-awareness, do his fanbase not see the unique kind of stupid with what they're complaining about?
