Chelsea Manning recently attempted to enter Canada through the St-Bernard-de-La-Colle/Roxham Road border entry point, which has gained infamy in recent months for its transformation into a nexus for illegal immigrants attempting to enter Canada. Upon Manning's arrival at the checkpoint, it was discovered by CBSA agents that this was the infamous American traitor and she was immediately sent back across the border, as she had been deemed inadmissible to Canada.

This letter was sent out to explain the rationale:

Ruh Roh! Someone forgot that a Criminal record means you are stuck in the US forever.

Noone wants a felon, especially one that leaks government secrets.
Heh, I think I've seen people on twitter (or maybe it was bradley himself?) make the following argument:

When Canada excludes people for crimes, it's only because they would've been crimes in Canada too. But leaking American secrets wouldn't be a crime in Canada. Thus the rejection was unwarranted.

Putin is p generous with extending asylum to US leakers. He even offered it to Comey :story:

"What's the difference between the FBI director and Mr. Snowden?" Russian President Vladimir Putin asked
yeah but hes a tranny and Russia doesnt like those.

Didn't Manning's release put lives in danger and got assets killed?

I consider him different from Snowde. Who blew the whistle on illegal shit the NSA was doing.
I think that was part of the reason Obama commuted his sentence. That fact that no one could link any deaths to the leaks.

A more local example people understand is - Manning just dox'd every police informant to every MS13 member.
I cant find anything on this.

I found a quote from another site, not sure if true:

What she was convicted of in the US matches up in the Canadian Criminal Code under the Treason section.

Inadmissibility for criminality is based on what would the crime be if it had occurred in Canada so yes, agree with what she did or not, according to Canada she is guilty of treason and will not be allowed to enter.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Canadian issue is that they replace 'American' with 'State'.

No one can say leaking State secrets isn't treasonous.

If that letter excluding him is any indication, had Manning done what he did here, it would have been called treason by the courts. The Founders here, though, strictly limited the definition of treason and made it very difficult to prove.

Canada abolished the death penalty for murder in 1976 although the last person hanged was in 1962. Canada didn't abolish the death penalty for treason and other military crimes until 1998 I have no idea how a person could be so stupid as to think they would just be allowed to cross the border after committing treason, they don't let people in who have DUIs and they weren't theoretically hanging people for drunk driving less than 20 years ago.

You didn't hear it from me but there are documents on that network that Bradley dumped from dozens of different nations. Now consider how intimately linked Canadian and American defense plans are.

Does Manley Trooning really want to keep exploring this "What I did isn't illegal in Canada" excuse?

Is that true? If you've had a DUI you can't visit Canada?

Yup, though it depends on the border agent
A single DUI conviction is not grounds to deny entry into the U.S. However, multiple DUI convictions or a DUI conviction in combination with other misdemeanor offenses can make a person inadmissible and require a waiver prior to entering the United States.

Its also why trucking companies are always looking for bondable drivers - they can take loads across the border without a switchover.
