Texas here too, I'm really glad I don't live in Houston anymore. Ike was only a cat 2 and it dropped to a cat 1 almost immediately after it hit land. It still majorly wrecked the town and devastated Galveston. Harvey is supposed to maintain cat 2 until it hits the San Antonio-Austin area. I keep hoping the news people are wrong because if that's true Texas is a about to get fucked up

Arlington resident here. The sky is a mixture of partly cloudy to a dark-overcast gradient. I can see the direction of the concentrated pool of storm activity. That wall cloud is fucking frightening. Nature is an A-Log that often wins. Semper-Fi, fellow kids I mean Texans.
Just flooding, probably, but if there's enough rain there could be quite a bit of it. No wind damage, tho. It's Orleans Parish mostly, but it could spill into Old Metairie. Lakeview will probably get quite a bit of it too.
Good thing most of the homes in Lakeview are 8 feet off the ground now. 15 pumps aren't functioning properly, out of 120, and the forecast is between 5 and 10 inches of rain over the course of a few days. I think they'll be alright.
It's a good thing for New Orleans that you had that big rain the other day that exposed the pump problems. I hope the system holds up and I think most of it will. I just worry about some people in certain areas. The city administration doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, either if there's a real emergency.
