So if Tamara and Malcolm have been absent in the last couple reviews, and not a single cutaway beyond the usual shots of Doug to be found, should we assume he's made some major cuts to Nostalgia Critic as part of his attempt to "return to form"?

Not that any of these things were great losses, and he still figures out ways to be obnoxious on his own. I'm just asking as someone who's mostly out of the loop with this kind of thing.

I can't imagine Doug giving up the goat as it were when it comes to the sketches. Not unless his hand was forced. Since pretty much all of these reviewers live in a bubble and his views are (for the most part) unaffected either way if the review has sketches or not. I'm lead to believe that he quietly laid them off or has downgraded them to the role of contractors.

Now that I think about it, I doubt Malcolm and Tamara were ever full time so in essence they were always contractors. I guess it would be better to refer to them as guest roles instead of recurring roles. Doug will call on them on occasion for a sketch or two to maintain the illusion of production value and that will be it.

Tamara was in the last review (Hulk) if I remember rightly.

That could have been shot way ahead of time. Or it was just a guest spot like I said to keep the allusion that they're full time players in Doug's crappy circus.

"Next up we have the Man on the Outside Looking In. There'll be quite a bit of information--you could say, Latza information--in that video. That's one I've been looking forward to doing, just because I think it's gonna be funny."

Turns out he's referring to Paul Latza, a video editor who was involved in Channel Awesome shenanigans at some point. One Google search of "paul latza tgwtg" will lead to two links on the first page full of people talking about him. He even has his own lolcow thread here, if you want to check that out.

His Facebook doesn't take you anywhere, and his Twitter is private as of this writing.

He also ran an Indiegogo campaign for a film called "My Date With a Secret Agent." Looking at how much was raised for it...yeah, it didn't turn out well for him, to put it lightly.

I think I've covered all the basics for now as far as Latza is concerned. I had no idea this individual even existed until after I finished watching the Angry Joe episode, so I'm interested in seeing what Jim has in store for us next month. For me it's going to be a learning experience and a half.

I getting tired of ever video of his about channel awesome ending with "Well the reason why all the part people want to see ain't in this video is cause it's in the final" why even make these videos beside the final if all the parts and interesting bits are just gonna be in the last video.

Because it's about milking as much money out of people as possible. If he just makes a 2 hour complete TGWTG video with all the best stuff, everyone stops sending him money after a week, and he has to find more stuff.

You've seen his TGWTG series so far, ever notice how he seems to really pad out his videos with a lot of "and as you can see, this is why blah blah blah" nothing like his earlier stuff that typically just got to the funny or interesting content. It's like he's trying to convince you it's funny or stupid, or that "the wait will be totally worth it" sounds like a fucking used car salesman. If it's funny just provide the context and then show it. Don't give me a running commentary and then a summary at the end of each individual funny or stupid thing they did.

That's a cynical way of looking at it. I don't get the impression that he's stretching it out but he wants to do little introduction videos for each key Channel Autism content creator. I think that's the purpose of each video. Truthfully, I think he was mildly interested in doing the series but he knew people wanted it so he did it because of his fans. It seemed like he had the most fun focusing on Spoony and Linkara.

The TGWTG videos do seem to be getting increasingly weaker. Amusingly, I think it's for the same reason as the actual TGWTG content creators. He's getting tired of making the videos and only does it because he said he would/something with Patreon I think?

I think part of it is the TGWTG crew share a lot of the same traits, so once you go over them in one video, you cut short a lot of content for the other videos. Outside of that, each member only has a couple of like, stand out moments to really talk about without getting too repetitive. The one exception I think is Linkara. Even Spoony felt like it was being really stretched out. I can understand doing the Doug video first as sort of an introduction video, but I think after that it should have just been one or two general videos, and then maybe end it with a solo video on someone with enough content to warrant it. Or even combine two people into one.

The other thing is the NC and Joe videos really paint them in a better light than they deserve. He kind of admitted that he was pulling punches in the NC one, and to be fair Doug isn't quite as cowish as some of the other members. His biggest sin is making shitty reviews, and the patreon scam. Even that I think was less intentional and more just him also being a shitty businessman.

The Joe one though felt like it was insulting the audience as much as Joe. To me, it felt like what Joe wanted to do was fine, it was just the way that he went around it was wrong, because his fans are dumb and don't understand how long it takes to produce a video game review vs. making a vlog about a TV show. He also made it sound like a new issue and up until now Joe has been putting out reviews without missing deadlines and keeping his fanbase happy.

Now theres going to be a vid on Paul Latza? wtf? If you can't make a Lindsay vid, but can make a Paul Latza vid, then I'm just gonna say he's too scared off getting kicked off Patreon now, he's completely cucked.

There's no point in being an internet drama shock jock if you are just gonna be pussified because you are worried about your income stream or because other youtubers won't like you. What a wuss.

The Lindsay thing does seem like bullshit. He claims it was due to lack of content, but then you look at the video with Joe where he literally only covered the most recent thing that happened to him.

Really, now? I know Jim, ever since he started his Patreon, has been working more and more toward being an actual content creator, but I never thought it was to such the extent that he caught the attention of CA contributors themselves (not that CA contributors are celebrities of any kind, mind you).

EDIT: Huh, what do you know? Jim posted this on his Facebook yesterday.

LOLOLOL HERE I AM 12 PAGES LATE

In my case, I had no idea what Jacob was referring to. I'm assuming it was the same thing with Suede. So I had no idea who was doing what or whether or not it was relevant. In the back of my head, I was thinking, "What, is somebody doxxing people? Showing up at our houses? What is it?" Jacob messaged Suede and myself later and told us about the TGWTG video series. I was like, "Oh. Okay. So that's it." I can see why Jacob would be more concerned. Me, I'm nearly a nobody, and anything anybody could say about me, I'd probably be like, "...Yeah, yeah, they got me." After that, it didn't concern me much.

tl;dr - I had no idea what Jacob was referencing, so my tweets were, "Uh, what?"

Turns out if you just make your content and don't also make a total arse of yourself, you don't get a bunch of videos calling you out or making fun of you for making a total arse of yourself.

Funny how that works.

And yeah, Jim not covering Lindsay does seem a bit weird now. Honestly, I feel like she'd be more discussion-worthy than Spoony sometimes, considering that her problems are just her, not a disorder like Noah has.

That said, it was never going to be as in-depth as LordKat and It Came From the Internet's hours upon hours of content on CA, and he's probably not bringing anything new to light, so I'm not entirely sore for new content on that front. Just a bit disappointed.

I almost wonder if Jim wanted to do a video on TGWTG and thought the best way to do it would be a video series as opposed to just one or two videos. I mean, on paper it isn't a bad idea, especially since focusing on one member at a time would help keep the video more coherent, but in practice it doesn't really work, especially for the overall length of the videos he's producing. A lot of the TGWTG members are just very repetitive, so even if they've been active for years, there isn't really anything new to say about their cowish tendencies. That's one of the main reasons that the individual threads here for TGWTG members don't really blow up like other cows.

Doug makes me sad. I wonder what he intended to do with his life in the past when he was starting out his e-fame. Now he's much older and his hair is all gone and his content hasn't evolved, and his fanbase is crumbling away. What are you gonna do, Doug.
