Thanks. This is exactly the kind of info that for me, put into a monthly newsletter, would justify a recurring donation more than a gold avatar or the ability to upvote posts. A breakdown of "this bill came due, this measure is necessary to counter this threat, this is relatively more expensive, this became a priority."

I'm always trying to fortify my personal financial position. Hearing the decision-making process of a sanctioned entity is highly relevant right now. I think it's extremely valuable to develop a mindset where some arbitrary account can be taken away at any time, and dealing with it sucks but is not the end of the world.

I don't understand the math. Where does the 12k come from? The goal is 800 so Josh wants 16k per month.

And that is Kiwi gold alone, if you want to calculate what Josh earns it's actually well over whatever this FAGMAN is earns, because Josh gets money on stream, gumroad, locals, behind the scenes donations, kiwi gold, true & honest, GiveSendGo, and so on. Put it all together this must be over 100k a year.

So if you wanted to calculate what Josh earns you would need to somehow parse through all that data which is hard and we don't even know how many big secret donations he gets.

At the very least he is in the top 0.1% of US earners, that is your starting point.

Also you can't subtract legal fees from the kiwi gold number as Josh got over 100k donations for the Liz Fong Jones case and the case has not even begun yet, so he hasn't even used a cent if I understand it correctly.

You really haven't been keeping up have you?
There are active lawsuits with Russell Greer and Acerthorne, one of which has been running for five years. We are blessed that Jersh has Hardin, who works at an incredibly reduced rate to help the forum. The legal costs could easily be 5x what they are.

Are you envious that after all these years of being deplatformed Jersh finally has a reliable income? Pocketwatching rat.

You're baiting, right? This has to be bait, or exaggerated on purpose. To be a top 0.1% earner nationally, in America, you have to earn approximately 2.8 million dollars a year (this is according to the Economic Policy Institute). A rough minimum threshold would be around 1 million dollars a year. I genuinely do not think Josh makes 1 million dollars a year, let alone 2.8.

Well, it has begun. He filed the suit. Nothing has "happened" yet because of the agreed-upon extended response date Hardin and Moon gave to the defendant. Lawsuits are a long process, you can determine for yourself by going in the "Lolcow Litigation" subforum and just looking at some of the starting dates of the threads there, and how many pages they have.

Also, there has been a very recent advancement in the suit, so if you're going to say shit like that, and not even have the fucking thread in your Watched list, why even say anything? Go check first?

@Renon was either the 3/13 stream or the 3/20 stream where he pulled up and read off how much he made for the month purely from streaming and donations when some financial bullshit hit, I don't really remember. Might have even been the stream on 3/27 towards the beginning. Can't search through the transcripts because the automatic CC isn't on any of those videos. Look through that if it really matters that much to you.

I don't make a 10th of this even before business expenses.

On January 2025 I was banned from Stripe on Gumroad and lost every single subscriber I had gotten over 6 years.

I do not receive GSG money for the lawsuits. It goes into an IOLTA.

The goal is 600. It's currently 800 because we're over the goal. I have to raise the goal to add more kiwi graphics to the bottom.

Stick to complaining about Phil.

Edit: And to be clear even if I made over half a million dollars of actual profit, I would not consider that excessive considering the totality of all skill requirements in hosting this website on top of the personal legal and safety liabilities, and considering the permanent lifelong implications that won't go away even if I walked away.

I like the website, I spend a lot of time here, I spend money to support the entertainment I receive. When I break it down it's like 10 cents an hour of entertainment, you won't find a better value.

As a paypig, I can sponsor a post every 3 days. That's 10 post sponsorships a month, that's $2 per sponsor, wherein I force at least hundreds of people to read Matthew C. Harris quotes or Patrick Tomlinson tweets (or my most recent sponsor where Null complains about gypsies at McDonald's (which at least 20 people have seen for the first time judging by the reactions, which means $0.10 per person I have delighted by exposing them to that post)). Another great value.

Dolphins.png

After you mentioned on MATI about how you got gypped out of swimming with the dolphins in middle school, I looked up prices and they're shockingly affordable. Here's a chance to heal your childhood trauma. If we get back up to 800 subscribers will you go swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove Orlando and review your experience on-air?

January 2025 Budget Breakdown
Monthly fees

legal fees: $1000/mo minimum
datacenter (power, uplink, space): $1000/mo
Tartarus frontends: $750 ~ $1000/mo depending
s3 storage: $500/mo
AI: $400/mo
Monthly total: $3650~$3900
Annual fees
internet numbers: $1050/yr
domains: $1000/yr
licenses: $250/yr
incorporation fees: several hundred, probably $500+ minimum for all the LLCs
Annual total: $2800
Dividing it by 12 just to break it down to monthly comes to
Monthly rate: $233
Total so far: $3888-$4133
And he stated in the video that he made $645 take home after taxes as Net income so I'll add that in as well.
Net Income: $645
Total so far: $4533~$4778
Stated taxes that were paid were the us federal corporate income: 21% and wv state corporate income: 6.5% but I have no idea what order and whether they are cumulative or additive so I am just gonna assume 25% out of laziness.
$4533 * 1.25 ~ $4778 * 1.25
$5666.25~$5972.5

January 2025 Gross Income
$5666.25~$5972.5
January 2025 Net Income
$645

So he got to keep between 10.8% to 11.38% of the gross he made that month.
Assuming a normal 5 day work week with 8 hrs a day for a 4 week month comes to 160 hrs along with 11 hrs spent on 4 podcasts for the month comes to 171 hrs worked,
$645÷171=$3.77 per hour of work.

Yeah you would've been better off just shutting down the website and moving to the Congo to dig for lithium batteries with those kids.

Edit: @Renon
Idk how to @ the guy with nordic runes in his name, he seems autistic enough to want to come check the math can someone let him know
Edit2: Corrected $654 to $645 and updated the math.

Null, you gosh darn tease--if you're going to leave the entire list of sticker tags open again while you're doing maintenance, you could at least take the extra step and have the paywalled ones have a shiny gold outline so the poors know their place.

That, and change the generic error message to say "Sorry, you must in the T&H/Kiwi Gold club to use this. SUFFAH, POORFAG!".

(I do like the new slobbermutt and doge stickers, btw).

It's a very common bug that happens when Claudius gets his mitts on the front end, cosmetic only.
