Sure, but it's also interesting in the sense that the ultramarines got fucked by the wordbearers incredibly early on, so they had time to rebuild because literally nothing else to do for years, otherwise they would have been involved for the entirety. What I found interesting about the dynamic between Guilliman and the rest in that book, was kind of like Imperium Secondus, Guilliman didn't actually want to be in charge. Even when he straight up asks his brothers to assemble and basically vote on what to do, the rest are still too busy being angry(Vulkan literally just going around angrily hunting EC and killing them one by one) and don't want to bother, to the point of Dorn setting up some goofy secret mission with the Lion and Russ, to come back with intel and "see, I told you so!" when all he had to do was just fucking talk with everybody... and instead because they didn't find the evidence wound up proving Guilliman's point and causing Russ to go fuck off by himselfJust finished the first booking in The Scouring series; Ashes of the Imperium by Chris Wraight. He's probably the best author BL has apart from Fehervari imo, but he's niche.
It was excellent, without going into spoilers I particularly liked the dynamics between the legions who had defended Terra and the Ultramarines as the late comers and the tension and resentment that came as a result of that. There's a couple of lines about Dorn & the Khan finally having the prestige and love of the people but no power anymore, and Guilliman arriving late but having the power of an intact legion, putting him in charge by default.
It's kind of meta, the Ultramarines coming in late and rebuilding Terra is why they're the poster boys of the Astartes. They fed and sheltered the people after and led the reconquest of the Imperium. Other legions are even being supplied weapons and vehicles made in Ultramar and they hate it. They're hated by other legions as much as by the fans. Makes me like them tbh.
Yeah they did a good job rebuilding, say what you want about Girlyman but he's the final boss of administration and shit gets done.Sure, but it's also interesting in the sense that the ultramarines got fucked by the wordbearers incredibly early on, so they had time to rebuild because literally nothing else to do for years, otherwise they would have been involved for the entirety. When it comes to getting fleshed out Dorn and the Khan were the big winners of the Heresy, and apparently The Scouring now as well.Yeah they did a good job rebuilding, say what you want about Girlyman but he's the final boss of administration and shit gets done.
And I agree, the tension came entirely from his brothers. He wanted to do things right and form a plan based on mutual consensus but his brothers were either prideful or wrathful. The bit at the start where Vulkan was having EC herded to him one at a time was great, he'd truly had enough haha. I was surprised by Dorn, but not by the Lion or Russ.
Are you retarded? The imperium would look at all those factions and see one thing. That they don't worship the God Emperor or submit to His Imperium, and then promptly subjugate/exterminate them. You know, I found someone arguing that the Imperium would not accept regimes like the Man in the High Castle's Germany or Gilead from The Handmaid's Tale.
That's so silly. The Imperium would ally with the Nazis, the Soviets, the Taliban, and the Khmer Rouge. They don't give a shit about whether you hate women or minorities; there is no "But they only approve racism against actual mutants." They will ask you to also hate mutants and aliens, but they won't ask for the end of pre-existing hatred on the planets.
Some people seem to like the Imperium only because of its aesthetics; they don't like its actual policies.
The polices of the Imperium are "pay your tithe, send us your psykers and uphold loyalty to the Emperor" and anything beyond that is generally up to the planetary governors. There are peaceful worlds where everyone isn't working 18 hour days and being turned into corpse starch but for every one of them who knows how many have all sorts of totalitarian ruling regimes. You know, I found someone arguing that the Imperium would not accept regimes like the Man in the High Castle's Germany or Gilead from The Handmaid's Tale.

Everyone forgets that the majority of imperial worlds are normal places, producing a variety of agricultural/industrial goods with a slightly higher tech level than us, with the tithe coming every 10 years or so, maybe a regiment raised, and where entire generations will go on with no major issues beyond local political disputes. Mind you, all the imperial governor does in most cases is manage the tithe/wider affairs with the imperium, books like Gaunts Ghosts show us that below him, there are often distinct nations/cultural groups on planets who are left to their own affairs, so long they worship the Emperor and pay the tithe. The polices of the Imperium are "pay your tithe, send us your psykers and uphold loyalty to the Emperor" and anything beyond that is generally up to the planetary governors. It's a shame that GW chose to be yet another progressive propaganda company, because the genestealer cults are such a perfect analogue for progressivism.
"But why can't we have a four-armed Emperor?"
"Is there anything in the lore that says we can't have a four-armed Emperor?"
You're so right! Plus, a four-armed Emperor would be twice as strong due to his four arms! Up with the four-armed Emperor! Uh... commissar, could you step over here real quick?
I love how the Rogue Trader game does the genestealer cults. It's always the best, most dedicated and upstanding moral people, but they have been subverted and there is nothing you can do to save them.
Cult of the Spiral Dawn sounds vaguely familiar. It says it's a horror blend, and I remember trying to get into the "Warhammer Horror" novels that came out around that time, and reading this:Have you read Day of Ascension or Cult of the Spiral Dawn?
Because the progressive, idealistic, genuinely nice people actually are part of a vast conspiracy to break down social norms and weaken society so that they can be invaded and replaced by illegal aliens.

Only War even has a mechanical social disadvantage for people who hail from Death Worlds; they've developed internal bonds for the sake of survival that are so strong they actively distrust anyone who's not from their world. The Guard actively has racism between active regiments based purely on cultural differences and both thinking they're the superior example of the human race.
Okay, gonna give a "HUH?" on this one considering that the boss pimp Genestealer that initiates and coordinates a genestealer cult is a "Patriarch".-Masculinity bad

It's classic hypocrisy. Pure strains are allowed to have patriarchal family units, humans are not. Like how in European countries, gun ownership for self defense is illegal and bad UNLESS you reasonably fear for your life because you are rich, famous, or a politician. No, living in an extremely dangerous poor neighborhood is not grounds for gun ownership, thank you for asking.Okay, gonna give a "HUH?" on this one considering that the boss pimp Genestealer that initiates and coordinates a genestealer cult is a "Patriarch".
In the Rogue Trader game, I armed the downtrodden, thinking I could have them eating out of my hand like the Engine Vandals were. But they were no match for subversion. It could just as easily be a genestealer Matriarch but that'd cause branding confusion. What matters is those god damn poor people and their insistence we provide health care benefits to their elders is going to cause massive social upheaval when the rapture happens.
Do retarded niggers like ya ever not whine about "muh irk kultu warz" faggotry least once in a day? It's a shame that GW chose to be yet another progressive propaganda company, because the genestealer cults are such a perfect analogue for progressivism.
-Strength bad
-Masculinity bad
-Order bad

It's almost as if they're trying to soften you up for an invasion. I doubt this is a coincidence, nor do I think it a coincidence that the progress people love communism, because they are essentially perpetuating Soviet ideological subversion tactics without knowing it. And they're still doing it even though the hive fleet- I mean Union has collapsed
Sorry, I came here to write this post because I heard the words "female space marines" and had to go have a tizzie on the New Zealand bird forum. Also, I think it is really funny to mentally replace the phrase "female space marines" with "four-armed Emperor."

Has one video, and immediately links to his patreon and discord. His instagram is full of black and white versions of art for some reason, and a few appear to have french text over them? For anyone interested in long-form lore videos they can put on as background noise, Invictus 40k released this surprisingly high quality video a few days ago. They even managed to get one of the companions from Owlcat's Rogue Trader to do the narration. When there's so much ai slop vids popping up, its nice to see something genuine.
