I’ll never turn down “more Dark Souls”, whatever format that might be in, but I think there are a lot of things they could improve on. If they make another massive open world game like Elden Ring I really hope they keep the world more contained; there were many times where I felt like the size of the world diluted and spread out the interesting content too much.

Personally I would rather have another Bloodborne or Sekiro but I don’t have high hopes for either

I might have been dreaming or having strokes in the astral plane but I have a vague recollection of Miyazaki saying something about their next game being smaller in the sense you describe. I don't think he was talking about Duskbloods either.

I think they wanted to do this kind of an open world once (or twice if you count SOTE) and give it a good shot, instead of committing to it until the end of time. I wouldn't be too worried if I were you

The last few pages here of people fighting over "muh lore" is pretty funny.
I mean... I'll talk shit if my ability to do a lvl 1 all boss run without upgrading weapons is questioned, but if someone disagrees with my lore theory that Miquella was a creepy troon faggot I don't care, to each their own.

I mean the appeal of fromsoft games will always be the gameplay, they can remove all the dialogue and item descriptions and I wouldn't really care that much.

being so "above it all" just makes you sound like a smug faggot.

FROM games aren't written like masterpeices, its mainly the presentation and world your in, that builds intrigue in its background, if you just like the combat, that's great, plenty do.

I'm not above it all whatsoever, in fact I'm pretty much within your striking range and guess what!
You disrespected me! You wounded my ego!

Wanna go? Wanna throw down!?
What's your deep rating on nightreign buddy!?

What do you mean was? DID YOU GO AND KILL THAT SWEET LITTLE GENTLEMAN

About the appeal of these games, I'm happy to say I happen to like it all. Even when it sucks. The gameplay (which of course is the most important) can be damn solid, the art is fantastic no matter how much they take from Berserk, the music fucking rules, the atmosphere and story bits manage to hook me in and there's usually a neat sense of adventure and discovery accompanied with just the right amount of stress.

I even get some retarded pleasure from the voice lines (in most other games I'd rather have NPCs be completely silent and/or nonexisting). Perhaps the scarcity of them adds to it, or perhaps Miyazaki chokes and beats the shit out of the voice actors until they get it fucking right

However I know one guy who is gameplay only. He plays Dark Souls 1 over and over again, a few times a year, with the same fucking club and with the same armor, in the same way and everything in the same order. Every time I question him, the answers bring just more confusion. Godspeed to that weirdo, may his Dark Souls forever remain unchanged

With the whole color theory I'm convinced it's just the next Dark Souls world that Gael's daughter painted.
Actually bro, Bloodborne is the world the Painting Lady made and the Ashen One's name is canonically Yharnam.
It goes like this.
DS1 and DS3-> same world (base)
DS2-> Patches' dream
Bloodborne-> painted world in the DS1/3 world
Demon's Souls-> advanced simulation made by an offshoot race of the Great Ones
Elden Ring-> novel inside Demon's Souls' world
Sekiro-> the SBR version of Elden Ring's world after the Frenzy ending

Source: My uncle went drinking with Miyazaki.

Am I a pretty boy? Will I ever find love? Will I ever strike fear in the hearts of my enemies? Will my masculine demeanor lift me to greater heights? Will I be remembered fondly? Will my bloodline ever be strong?

Wait til next time I fly into MT airport.
I'll spectate that and treat the winner over at the Shoneys on Broadway.
The loser I'll take to open mic night over at The Pilot Light so they have to suffer through several hours of hipster slam poetry.

My love quest has proven unfruitful so I have updated my wardrobe. Would you surrender your firstborn daughter to this man? Would you proudly call him "son" at family gatherings? Would you rest assured knowing that your blood will be mixed with his? Would you accept his cultural heritage?

Also pictured a retarded pitchfork I found, it makes me look like I can do fieldwork and shit. Like a man. And don't make fun of that retarded scarf covering half of my face. It's not there to cover a weak chin or anything like that. It comes with the hat and I can't fucking help it

I was playing like 50 hours and asked myself when i was having fun the last time and it was 30-40 hours ago. And it was because I did't know you can teleport in this game, and teleporting traps were a cruel joke. I actually ran back all the way, and that's only memorable thing.

This game is like dark souls, but you have only 3 levels stretched x1000 times. Nothing to find in this world. All dungeons the same, repeat bosses x10. All cool stuff from the trailer turned out to be nothing burger in game. Just giant map you have to explore rumba-style and find exactly nothing but plains and repeat content.

And this slop will be cookie cutter standard for all future games, fuck me.

The homogenization aspect is something matthewmatosis got right in his DS3/Demon's Souls video. Infamous among souls ballwashers.

Not a fan of teleporting either. It's a huge game and obviously it helps, especially in possible future runs, but you get too many graces and it robs you of that sweet sweet stress, planning and anticipation that's pretty important for immersion and adventure.

I wish the graces were just checkpoints and for leveling up. Perhaps some teleportation could work, if every main area had like only one general fast travel point and it cost you rare resources or something.

I still remember reading Miyazaki's words about their future games being smaller and tighter, that they wouldn't just make another ER. Paraphrasing, not his exact words but that's what I got out of it. Not worried about it myself.
