I'd prefer for weebs to have a shit reputation like they've had for decades before. It means only those who are actually interested will be discussing it and Israelimerican corperations will be less interested in capitalizing on and ruining it like they do everything else.

The big issue is that it also makes it more welcome for people like chibi, which sucks. I wish weebs would just have the reputation of being weird nerds who smell rather than weird pedos who smell :(

Anything that becomes popular enough goes to shit. That's why gatekeeping should be thing. I don't want people to think of these proud pedophiles whenever I suggest them to watch Death Note or AoT or whatever.

I don't think anyone would think so of you for watching those two. Think that kind of a reputation is more of an issue with slice of life shows and any kind of a show featuring a young looking character.

Like, I am still terrified of telling anyone that I like Youjo Senki because of how many pedos like it when I just like it because it's an objectively funny story with a sick setting and some great pieces of meta-comedy (Like the main villain of the movie being a mary sue archetype literally called "Mary Sue" and the story just exploring how horrifying such a character would be to anyone she's fighting). The worst part is that Tanya is never even sexualized in the show, "fans" do that entirely of their own volition (Then again, I never read either the manga or the books, so I could be wrong and maybe some shit happens later on. But I hope that is not the case).

One of my favourite things in all this is all the claims that clear joke "threats" or offers are unacceptable because a crazy person might think they're real.
Besides this being an extreme anti-free speech position that allows greater expansion of restrictions than almost any other imaginable standard, it would also mean that lolicon should obviously be banned from their perspective. Particularly based on what they say about crazy people's reactions to it.
The "crazy person could think it's real or take it the wrong way" standard for unacceptable expression is a real winner.

It's the slipperiest of slopes, you can make this exact argument for anything. ANYTHING. No anime, manga, movie, TV show, book... Even any form of thinking can lead a """""crazy person""""" into committing mass murder, rape etc.

So Chibi and his goonlings shouldn't be allowed to think freely by their mentally fucked standards... which isn't even an issue for them since I doubt they're even capable of that.
