He pushed AZT as being a lifesaving treatment, but turns out it killed thousands, and didn't really do what he claimed igt would do. It was very similar to the covid vax being heralded as this life saving thing, but turned out ot be a big wet fart.

A little history sperging here: Fauci (and Reagan) moved very slowly to address AIDS. It was treated as a gay disease even though it was a leading cause of death in men ages 25 to 45 for years, surpassed only by accidents (although AIDS was the number one cause of death for this demographic in 1992). Yes, it primarily affected gay men and intravenous drug users, but the scale of death was shockingly high and the disease began to affect non-homosexual demographics by 1990. It was a serious public health problem and it spread via heterosexual transmissions at a rapid pace.

AZT was the only FDA-approved treatment for a while, and it was both very hard to get and it was prescribed in legendary doses, which led to severe side effects. Because it was only one drug, and HIV is a virus, it also led to AZT‐resistant strains. That's why modern treatments for HIV/AIDS use multiple drugs. AZT is still used today, but in smaller doses and not as a first-line treatment.

Fauci was a big public figure in the AIDS epidemic and became the face for the failures of the public health establishment. His ego was a problem then as it was during COVID. He promoted AZT because it was the only proven drug at the time. To be fair to Fauci, the FDA was the one dragging its feet on drug development and approval (Fauci was at the NIAID, a different organization). Fauci was also one of the first people to actually research HIV/AIDS. The FDA moved at a much slower pace back then to approve drugs, if you can believe that. This led to the now-famous "buyers clubs" where people obtained unapproved/hard to acquire drugs for treating HIV/AIDS. The FDA later relaxed the rules and Fauci led better clinical trials at the NIAID in the 90's but, by then, a lot of people died. Larry Kramer famously called Fauci a murderer, although Kramer and Fauci later reconciled.

There weren't doomers, we were defeated and they were content. Different kinds of people that are dooming now kinda just blended in.

The self defeating loserdoesn't want things to get better. They gave up on life, they bought in that their particular boogie man(Leftists, Foreigners, Jews) already stole their future, and so that's taken the responsibility away from them of working for anything other than getting by. They wasted their life, and if it was for nothing, then they have to blame themselves for it. So instead they embrace defeatism, they argue that this is false improvement, that their boogie man is still in control, or only temporarily dethroned. Any gains for them are a direct attack on their psyche, and they must refuse to believe them. They were content at the time.

Then there are the doomer niggercattle. They just listen to others for their opinion because it makes them feel intelligent. The Right wing gifters made a lot of money complaining against the state of the world. Things being better don't get people to click, and Iran situation has given them a great opportunity to get that outrage grift back.The self-defeating doomer listens to Outrage Grifting as a reassuring lullaby, but the niggercattle hears it and thinks it is their own opinion they self realized. That why they are annoying now, and blended in back then.

And then there are the browns. The browns pretend to be white and doom to demoralize is into inaction. They can't raise themselves up, so their only option is to tear America down to their level. The Brown Doomers are just Leftist of Convenience. They don't like fags but they hate White people more. When whitey was being torn down, they'll act like equals, but when they are on the losing side of MAGA they act like they've been betrayed by a side they never was really on.

There is also just Leftists trolling the thread, they weren't here then because they felt superior and are also probably brown.

The thing is, it is a gay disease, never heard of anyone but a homosexual dying from it, or some woman that fucked a queer. It is mainly a gay disease and rebranding it from gay related immune deficiency was just an optics decision.

Correct. HIV is spread through rough gay bath house sex, junkies sharing needles, and closet cases bringing it home to their wives from the bath houses. In roughly that order.

The propaganda campaign that ran throughout the 90's (MTV practically had a PSA every commercial break) that it's a danger to everyone was a lie, propped up by a few poor kids who got infected by a tainted transfusion. HIV doesn't transmit very easily, and the actual risk of a man catching it through conventional vaginal sex is almost unbelievably low.

The fact that it was the leading cause of death for adult men for around a decade is even more of a condemnation of gay promiscuity and lack of impulse control, as none of those numbers reflect straight men. Even after the cause was known for years, almost half of gay men in San Francisco had managed to catch it by 1995.

That said, ol' Rushbo wasn't being particularly Christian by mocking the poor dead sods, even if it was in the context of pushing against the overwhelming 90's pc media push to normalize all of the degeneracy causing the AIDS crises. The dead did all have (usually disappointed) parents who mourned them, and he was right to apologize later.
