Amen. A few times I've tried to be charitable and cordial about his taking offense to any and all sentiments remotely critical of Rippathings, but it just doesn't stop. Then he did the whole "wHy EvaN doNt haB a tHreAd" shit, which I tried to explain, once politely and again rather curtly, to no avail. I wasn't planning to call him out like I did but his pretending to represent the opinions of most Farmers here, acting like some kind of authority on what is or isn't up for discussion on this thread, and just his general faggotry was too much.

Yeah, it's called backseat moderating. Before he would just lose his shit at people offering even the most mild criticism of July. Now, he's added the element of thinking he can command people to not post anything he perceives as critical of July. He can miss me with that shit.

FFS, all @dukejinsen22 did was point out (correctly) that a trademark connected to the Rippaverse has expired. It's not even that big of a deal, and seems to be more an oversight on Dillard's part anyways.

The issue is that his detractors are total idiots. Every time they open their cake hole they ask us "Aren't we better than him?" and we answer "No, for this and that reason." and it sounds like we are worshipping Eric. We do not worship him. His competition is so bad that we cannot help but side with him. I never even read any of the Rippaverse and I know that by virtue of delivering the products on time and expanding his business, he is VERY successful.

Everytime they talk about Eric it is like that scene from Brooklyn 99: "Who wore it best?"they ask and we reply "Eric!". And that can get boring but it is not the fault of Eric's fans. It is the fault of CG for still trying to compare themselves to Eric and talk about how much they are winning against him even though they never even provide the product that is supposed to compete against the Rippaverse in the first place. They demand the trophy but they refuse to enter the competition out of laziness and fear. They know they have nothing groundbreaking and they cower. Well, Eric doesn't have either but he entered anyway and won.

What I will say about July is that I am happy he is doing well, and I genuinely feel bad for all the harassment he has had to deal with (including criminal harassment).

But I still think his comics are mid. He's winning, in large part, because Ethan has essentially surrendered the field from laziness and unwillingness to adapt to the fact he has serious competition now. He refuses to correct long-standing issues within CG regarding getting product into people's hands, and that is entirely on him.

So what if they are a bit mid? They have their fans and they are delivered on time. Really, the entire comicbook industry surrendered. The Big 2 have ruined their stories, Image was a mixed bag at the best of times, the smaller publishers are about the same level as the Rippaverse in terms of quality (only with more leftism) and manga is taking everyone's lunch money. Eric did not promise masterpieces that will cure the cancer of the citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki retroactively. He made comics to the best of his ability. Honestly, apart from his work ethic, his greatest strength is his ability to get others to work for him. He is not the Messiah! He is just a good businessman and a good human! Admitting that does not make us his fans.

Seeing Eric "compete" against CG (and the industry as a whole) is like watching a football season where there is one decent team and everyone else is a bunch of incompetent idiots. Yeah, that one team won every match without allowing any other team to even score. So what? Why shouldn't we acknowledge that? His opponent were the Marvel Lemmings, the DC Roadkills, the Image Coin-tossers, the CG Sloths and a bunch of other paste eaters and marker sniffers. Of course Eric would win. Why should we pretend that the matches were even close? The Rippaverse might not be all that impressive but their competition is worse!

The guys who buy from one, usually buy from the other as well. I don't know, they just do not feel like they are really competing. Marvel and DC are but these two seem like they no real rivalry. Still, it is a fair point to argue that Iconic is better regarded in terms of quality. Still, I do not really have a dog in this fight. I just like calling out CG and the rest of the industry for failing their fans.

For comics that are so mid and forgettable, people sure do have a hard time forgetting about it. When people say mid I look at it as agenda less and pure escapism with no political messaging....you know like how they're supposed to be? You may as well call western's mid because they have cowboys and outlaws, and clearly more people disagree with the mid comment because they keep selling. Sometimes the original formula is what works.

Honestly I'm more of a Soulfinder fan myself. Kamen America looks interesting but not something I would be interested in. I guess Rippaverse and Iconic are the superior quality compared to Comicsgate, at least by now they are. Also there have been a lot of books that came out since Isom. The only thing that interests me and Iconic is Soulfinder. Nothing else in their interests me so far.

But I still think his comics are mid.

You can think his comics are mid, that's your decision. I think of mid as classic storytelling that classic storytelling worked before and I see no reason why it shouldn't now. I mean there are people that like stories like that, it's a lot more common than people think.

I mean I can understand if Rippaverse is not somebody's taste, but people act like superhero stories are the only things they make even now. TBF Rippaverse promised classic stories with escapism and no messaging.... And that's what they delivered. Comicsgate on the other hand almost never deliver anything and the stuff they do deliver was not even worth the wait. Another thing people like to forget is that Superhero stories are not the only things Rippaverse does at this point in time. People would be surprised how much people enjoy classic superhero stories that certain people would consider "Mid" in this day and age, as well as the number of people that enjoy them.

No, I mean that to my knowledge there is no rivalry between ERIC and Tim. They have largely the same audiences: People who want comics but feel burned by the MS industry and CG.

I don't know, have Eric and Tim ever fought? From what I have seen, they are agreeable people with shared values and tastes. I haven't followed Iconic that close so I am not sure.

In any case, I doubt Tim likes EVS and he definitively WOULD see him as competition IF he ever released his stuff.
