I think 343's stewardship is going to culminate in some time travel bullshit to retcon everything after 3 or 4. Every book between releases is just a way to rush toward a restart of the entire thing.

There's a possibility that Halo 7 culminates in another reboot to the franchise specifically to ignore 4, 5, and Infinite.

Bonus points if does something insane, like 343 decanonising their Forerunner lore to put Bungie's lore (Humans = Forerunners) back in its place, or some other bullshit. (Halo 2 cut ending is re-added where the dead human is a time-travelled Chief)

Bungie Halo has so many legitimately wonderful female characters that they could highlight, and instead they do shit like this. Since we are on the topic of women, I'll talk about something men probably overlook: the enshitification of Cortana's hair. What the hell have they done to her hair? It started with 4, but nobody noticed because they were too busy looking at her coomerfied design. They switched out her perfect Y2K futurism style right under our noses. She was giving Leeloo from Fifth Element, she was giving 1995 Ghost in the Shell. It's edgy, it's cybernetic, it fits her personality.

Then they gave her this stupid, poofy, dowdy, BORING style. The way they texturized it in 4 at least made it passable, but after that it just becomes terrible.

I thought Halo 2 had peak hair. It drops down to her collar in sharp points and the slightly pointer face makes her look more "tough", but ultimately still feminine. It's the design that fits her defiance at the end of 2 the best. Giving her a rounder face and shorter hair made her look more human, which fits with the whole "vulnerable"/"in-need-of-saving" thing they had for 3. It worked for what 4 given the B-plot is wholly about Cortana's decline but it's still an inconsistency, and she simply never should've reappeared post-4.
I think they were trying to make her look more like Halsey.

I don't know why it took until The Weapon for 343's Cortana to brush her hair behind her ear. It's a bit less boring at least but it looks better longer.

I think that's my favorite too, although I love 3 as well. Halo 2 Cortana is just gorgeous in general. Her eyes are so piercing.

Exactly, this is why that style works well on Halsey (I love the way she looks in Reach so much). It reads as mature, matronly, austere. On Cortana, it just looks frumpy.

It also looks like hair, whereas Cortana's is more of a solid lego-piece-like thing. Halsey's older look is a natural evolution of a femme fatale, whereas that haircut on a younger woman looks too bureaucratic. It summons to mind a woman who works as a brown-nosing secretary or something, not someone who would do anything to win whilst also keeping her pride/dignity intact.

Cortana was "born" on Reach when Halsey had either the above look or her look in Reach. It's possible Cortana also has the constant thought of "I need to cut my hair" (lmao) but Reach's Halsey (2552) is 3 years older than when Cortana was first switched on (2249), but when Cortana was "made" (scan from flash cloned Halsey brain) could even be younger.

All this is basically to say: Cortana's hair is too short, and lore backs it up.

Being honest I like halo 4 nu-tana's hair I tolerate her s1 facial appearance on that Paramount abomination thing, the halo 4 bobcut? reminds me of that haircut secretaries had in WW2.
Not exactly, but i found it quite similar.
I still like her bungie millennial "cyberpunk" cut more.
 
Goes to show how much I've been paying attention to Halo news lately that I missed this for over two weeks, but the Exchange in MCC got an update that finally removes the weekly rotation and makes nearly every item available for purchase at all times, with the only exception being the 20th anniversary items like the Orion and Mirage armor sets, which rotate quarterly (first rotation will exit in a couple weeks, so snag Orion if you don't already have it). Not only that, but various items like the old ranked challenge weapon skins and seasonal nameplates are now auto-unlocked for anyone who signs in, so if you ever wanted that Avalanche sniper skin in Halo 3, you can finally get it.

Better late than never, I suppose, I just wish it hadn't taken literally half a decade to implement. I'm also not holding my breath that any other MCC updates are forthcoming with how Microsoft really seems to want to forget it exists most of the time.

ETA: Just checked, and one of the unlocked items is the Law's End back accessory for Halo 3, an item that somehow never ended up in the Exchange rotation at all. Nearly every nameplate is unlocked too, with only these still locked for whatever reason (looking it up, most of these were only Twitch drops so it's unclear why they're still locked):
  • HCS Grassroots 2023
  • On the Money
  • Bay Doors
  • HCS Grassroots United
  • Unlikely Pairing
  • Spinning Rings
  • Spartan Flag
  • Mardi Gras (this was just one of the usual "sign in during this period to unlock it" nameplates so it should be unlocked with the rest)

And of course, any nameplates specifically awarded to people like 343 employees or those who had their Forge maps added to matchmaking are also not unlocked for everyone.

Another nameplate that will never be added again: New Mombasa Police, because of Saint Floyd.
 
I am replaying Infinite. I don't mind it. The lack of blood is an annoyance, but it generally has the classic Halo gameplay and the visuals are pretty nice. The story; however, is just absolute garbage. We witness Chief getting his ass handed to him for the first time in the series by Atriox and by the time we transition into gameplay we discover Atriox is dead and replaced by some mouthy, annoying baboon we have never heard of. Furthermore, the game just outright abandons all the Cortana shit from Halo 5. I thought this game was supposed to get a ten year window of DLC? How can I trust Microsoft to rebound if they can't even respect their own flagship title. The entire Phil Spencer reign was one giant cock tease. Starts off strong with the Xbox One X, brings back BC, and after that... ma fanculo.

This nigger should've just keep making Halo 2 AI videos, the new more cynical /v/ideos feel like a fake and gay attempt at using the current day nostalgia for (Bungie's) halo as well as the deserved discontent and hate at 343shitndustries as a cheap way to obtain sweet e-shekels.
It just feels very unnatural the way he went from using the demaster inferior cg cutscenes for his parody clips to just recently larp as a trve old bungiechad who would never ever play such an inferior version that bastardizes the based aryan legacy of classic Halo.
