I thought they had something a little more concrete then that. Micron literally shut down their consumer products and cancelled contracts with retailers for this.

Unless this was some 4d chess to get memory prices to crash after pretending to buy them and getting the ram companies to build up supply that they now have to sell at a discount.

edit: I'm not finding a verified source and this tweeter is a Canadian and they lie all the fucking time
And console prices won't go down.

It was public information that they were letters of intent and not binding contracts, so that info is already priced in. Low quality news sources want to speculate why Micron’s stock is falling, but there isn’t really new information that would explain why. It’s been falling since their earnings call in March. I would not expect this to lead to any significant price drops, especially now that Micron isn’t in the consumer market.

It might be related, if the demand for AI is going down and it seems like OpenAI won't be honoring the letter of intent Micron might be got hardest as they aren't able to pivot off AI hardware as easily.

Shilling my A&N autism but I thought it'd be important enough to share here:

A fucked up EFI partition on the 4tb drive can cause this behavior. Get a usb drive adapter and clean the hdd.

Admin cmd:

diskpart
list disk
select disk #
clean

Plug in back into the sata controller n reboot.
Isn't sata hotswap? I can unmount and detach/attach drives without rebooting. Just start he computer with the drive unplugged, plug it in once you're logged in, then format it or whatever.

I didnt even think of that but yeah. I use a usb so shits ezpz.

While we're on the topic, I have an HDD that, when I wake my pc from sleep, will half the time not... boot? I guess? It won't show in file manager, can't access files. It's an old as shit drive, is this a dying thing or just windows

as mentioned look for it on chkdsk then ask the s.m.a.r.t out of it, it'll tell you if it's going the way of the dodo or not.

Why now? Why now of all times to begin dabbling in A.I.? I'm retarded. (:_(

BTW I have a 4TB server HDD that won't let computers boot when they're connected. Is it broken?
What do you mean by a server HDD? Is the interface SAS or SATA?
A broken drive (one that's not spinning up or just unresponsive) shouldn't completely stop a PC from booting at all. However, in my experience connecting a SAS drive to a SATA controller prevented a PC from ever showing the BIOS splash screen. Let us know about the HDD part number (NOT serial number) and the controller you are using to connect it, maybe it's still salvageable.
There's also the possibility of the small PCB on the HDD's underside having a short somewhere, but for now don't go unscrewing anything from it

I'll go with a RAID0 of four 15kRPM hard drives
Sorry for the late update on this but I've given up on attempting install of Windows XP on what is essentially a meme. Not even nLite managed to fix the constant bluescreens
The performance of the drives is still quite surprising, reaching speeds close to a SATA3 SSD (obviously not in random reads)
Results of the RAID shared as a Fibre Channel LUN, wonder if they could have been higher had I installed another 8Gb/s controller. I'm worried that I might have accidentally left the ZFS cache enabled, but we'll see with another test.

Results on a Vista installation, much more realistic performance

Should I make another RAID0, this time with eight drives? Now that I actually have free time to do dumb shit it's starting to look like a fun project

Got an oled and now I’m looking at switching out my old boards, pads, and mice. Anyone have recommendations? Been looking at some some stuff on Amazon.

Edit:IEMs too.

you didn't really specify a preference though.
look i've been using a shitty office keyboard for 6 fucking years already and only recently the S is starting to fade a little bit, for mouse it doesn't really matter as long as it's more than 15$ it'll last a while, bought a random white label one that hasn't started double clicking and whatnot which is common for people that play fpses so... thing has endured more than a year of abuse and still going strong.
also i'd like to vent my frustration on mechanical keyboards and their innate faggotry of not having a keypad for some gay reason, it's really fucking annoying not to mention the shitty clacking noises but i has a bias since using a 6yo random ass membrane office keyboard...
and on sound i still haz my 10 year old white label speakers that i bought alongside my first pc, i have no idea why they haven't busted although they have a silly volume thing where some notes are muted if i play it with less than a certain volume but they are loud as shit, it's beyond weird seeing all of the "good shit" costing well over 100$ when i paid like 40$ for my random shit that shouldn't have lasted more than a year

I’m just looking for general stuff that people have had good experiences with primarily for gaming. As for mechanical keyboards not having keypads, that just just straight up isn’t true. The current one I have has everything and it’s honestly more than I need.

That's about what you should expect from a four-drive RAID-0.

Fun fact: I got 240 MB/s with two drives directly connected to the mobo (SATA), set up as a single dynamic volume in Windows 11, but got 360 MB/s when passing them through from a USB drive copy station in Proxmox to Server 2022 as virtual drives with the dynamic volume reconstructed by ldmtool.
