There is also no corroboration from any records that show his bone spurs were fake, it was in 1968, not exactly peak draft dodging times. Nobody can even dispute that bone spurs were actually common back then. The deferment was only for one year, so it's not like it was a Get Out of Vietnam Forever card, the draft continued until June 1973, so there were other mitigating circumstances that many people found.
