Starting to look like Iran's whole "mosaic warfare" strategy is starting to backfire.
When enough IRGC commanders decide to sell out to save their own skins, suddenly Trump can declare whoever he pleases to be the "real" Iranian leader and those who refuse to accept it as "internal radicals" who can be easily ignored.
 
Publicly announcing that you're negotiating with one faction of the Iranian leadership (who is then implied to be selling out the rest of the Iranian leadership, who will certainly be killed or jailed in the aftermath) and then playing coy about who it is is a great way to sow division among the Iranians, who are already suffering from fractured leadership and the inability to communicate with each other.

It would have been even better if Trump produced some credible evidence of negotiations with parts of Iranian leadership, because then their options would amount to killing each other or waiting to be killed in the infighting.

While we're speculating on Ye Olde Trump 4d Chess Memes: This could also be a feint to get the Marines into position to take Kharg Island, or prepare the Navy to secure the Strait.

Just spitballing, what the fuck do I know?

Completely agree, but if Israel was willing to let him slip out without getting ack'd, they must have a pretty high level of confidence that he'd be willing to roll over and give us anything we wanted.
And if he doesn't, we know where he lives.

That literally was my first thought.

The alternative being they actually found a government faction likely with Artesh troops willing to work with them.

Either way, Israel is nodding along with the 5 day plan, so something is going down.

This more than anything is what gives me encouragement that this isn't just Trump being given the runaround. Israel was full speed ahead on destroying Iran's energy infrastructure, even getting the jump on a few stations last night, so the fact that they're going along with this says that they've seen something promising, or it's all a big feint.
Either way, oil bulls seething.

Israel has no choice but to nod along. The moment the US says this is over, its over. They cant continue the war without us.
