Best case solution, a state affected by the change sues California on behalf of its citizens in "defence" of their personal information. Something along the lines of "my constituents, the people of X, are not Californians and don't consent to have their private information collected at the behest of the California legislature". They would need to go through the Constitutional court. The 1st, 4th and 14th amendments would all apply here and there's precedent in the supreme court to knock this bill down if they're willing to try.

This exact sort of thing is what the Commerce Clause is for. Not that Congress would ever pass a law designed to benefit Americans, though.

The sanctions are being lifted on Iranian oil that's already at sea specifically so that it can enter the market and be bought by other countries instead of being sold exclusively to China, as it would've been if the sanctions remained in place.

I think the Republicans have a better chance at passing the SAVE act than getting the DHS funded. The Democrats are stonewalling the negotiations and demanding ICE be defunded to ok' the DHS funds. Which is strange because ICE is currently funded via a separate war chest that was part of the BBB so I don't know how it matters outside of optics.

The Republicans tried today to get the Democrats to pass the funding via line items. For those who don't know, that means they proposed voting for funding one thing at a time(just funding TSA or DNI you get it). And Chuck said no, insisting that ICE needed to be 'defunded' as part of a deal. Not happy to simply fund the other arms if DHS leaving ICE up for debate. If he and his cohort refuse to budge on that principle then I don't see it getting funded any time soon.

To give you some perspective, we're still in year two, not even halfway, all of the ICE antics happened within a month. While I wish the deportation numbers were higher, those are still good numbers considering those are votes that are not going to be counted.
