I was thinking it reminded me of Heat a lot too that way. Lots of dialog and one 'big scene'.
It should come as no surprise that I consider Heat also to be a masterpiece. And other very slow movies like The Conversation, which is basically one scene, over and over, which changes meaning throughout the entire movie.

It's amazing how good this scene is. Possibly because Alec Baldwin is indeed actually such a huge asshole he didn't even really have to act.

At risk of further derailing the thread...

Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, and Chevy Chase all come to acting from the same approach. Meaning all three are massive, insufferable fucking pricks in real life, so their on-screen personas really aren't acting, it's just their natural personalities presented in film.

@Useful_Mistake please lock this thread until something happens
It's probably going to be a while even if the thread's locked. While it's a useful trick in the Greer thread, usually you have to spend at least a bit of time trying normal service before you get alternative service granted, and by "a bit of time" I mean months.

The only exception I can remember is the clownshoes bums in robes in Greer's case who granted him alternative service despite him not even attempting to serve via the normal process.

I think we're in for a bumpy ride with this one, who knows the kinds of plot armor LFJ can pull together. I'm looking forward to it.

I think it's because Greer is fully serviced by him his thread. He can better read the filings when it's locked.

Tldr: No service needed. Defense asks for time until June 22, 2026 to respond (pending court approval)

I wonder if LFJ will make an improper serving argument because Zhen is not his heckin name anymore

This is actually a good play. Waiving service instead of fucking around gives you 60 days to respond instead of 21 under FRCP 4(d). This is the case even if the motion for an extension does not succeed.

It's a pawn to queen 4 kind of play but Jones doesn't come right out of the gate looking like an unreasonable jerk and bought over a month of extra time.

Sadly we won't have the Buc-ee's Beaver serving Fong-Jones.

ECF 7 and 8 as images, 9 as single PDF and images.

Well, we've got service, and by Greer standards that means the lawsuit cleared the biggest hurdle in the universe.

I've created a lawsuit thread in PG, still a WIP as I want to make sure it's going in the expected direction first. I stole large chunks from Null's OP in this thread. Still filling in info and links, I'll start adding the main documents. Null said we may be getting a direct API to pull docs, which would be nice.

Three months to respond is pretty long, how many hours a week are they looking at this case? 5 minutes a pop?

"You must accept our demands IMMEDIATELY or be SUED!"
"No no no wait we expected him to capitulate, actually we're really busy and can't make a defence in three months, sorry!"

One can only hope this is a sign the legally minded involved with Elliot have realized they are incredibly screwed from the outset and are attempting to postpone the inevitable legal colonic irrigation as long as possible.
