A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Oreos are just chocolate bourbons. I don't get all the hype.
Nah, oreos have that white shit inside them and are made of disappointment and HFCS. Ever had a twinkie? It's the same basic idea: an artificial cake-like substance filled with a dense blend of sugar and highly processed seed oil that identifies as cream.

Burger attempts to ingratiate himself with British folks by suggesting Oreos aren't anything special and are just Bourbons. Unwittingly outs himself as non-Brit because Bourbons > Oreos.

Oreos are fucking disgusting super-processed sugar-slime. Bourbons are lovely. Though I always have to remind myself in polite company not to remove the upper part and eat it first, then scrape the middle off with my teeth and finally eat the lower part by itself. The goal is to get both upper and lower as dry of filling as possible without breaking the filling.

I am not a bigot. I will eat any biscuit that I'm not allergic to. I am sorry that you're all such vile people and judge a biscuit on your own small minded and bigoted views. #Allbiscuitsaredelicious .

In other news I'm on a diet. Time to start jogging and drop the Christmas weight.

She is 16 now, so I've resigned myself to a life of milky brews now if I can't be arsed to do it myself.
One of the first things I learned was tea. Tea and pirating music because my mum had do idea how to use a computer at all. Looking back I would probably say that osha would have a problem, I think maybe I was slightly too young to be using a kettle but I never died so it's fine. I remember being idk probably about 8-10 and wanting to make my mother breakfast in bed for mother's day. I tried to make her scrambled eggs, I ended up getting bits of shell in there and the lid of the pepper shaker fell off and I did not do a good job of removing the mountain it dumped on.
Bourbons are good - but they have to be just right or the texture makes me gag
If I ever buy a pack of biscuits I normally open them and leave them out. That way they go soft like they've been dunked in tea but just for eating them. I don't care if it's not a biscuit in the traditional sense but a nice soft shortbread with a little sprinkle of sugar is the best in that category.

Yes. I think malted milk are delicious and good dunkers.
I must confess I agree.

Hersheys as part of a 'smore is very good.
Probably boils off the butyric acid when you melt it. That stuff is vile.

Police-style powers to tackle fly-tippers being considered (archive)

You know how this will go, right? The environment agency will get these headline powers with the intent that they're used to hunt down and prosecute mass dumping by cunts. They'll immediately be used to arrest every big baz with a stray crisp packet in his front garden, while pakis and gypsies are left unmolested, to continue tipping out hundreds of tons of waste everywhere and turn the whole country into soggy India. I look forward to the day when the police arrest someone on his way to the tip because they decided they don't like the look of him.

‘Trump’s ICE deported me to Britain – it’s a dump’

Ted Jones, who moved to the US as a child, is dismayed by poor integration of ethnic communities after arrival in Manchester
A British man who was deported to Britain during Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown has compared the UK to a Third World country.
Ted Jones, 24, was removed from the US in August 2025 after a drink-driving conviction and visa irregularities were flagged to officers.
Mr Jones – not his real name – was convicted in 2022 and handed a fine and a period of probation.
His conviction meant he was on the radar of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials when the president deployed them to US cities to find and remove illegal migrants.
Mr Jones, who moved to the US as a child with his Zimbabwean father and British-born Ghanaian mother, is among hundreds of convicted criminals sent back to Britain.
Despite being deported for immigration offences, Mr Jones said he was dismayed at the lack of integration by ethnic minority communities in Britain.
In a social media video recorded after his arrival in Manchester, Mr Jones said: “Now I’m in the United Kingdom and this country sucks and has made me more America First, because you see that outside of London, all of England is a Third World country, a dump. I hate it here and I’m excited and ready to go back to the United States.”
‘English is a second language in England’
Mr Jones stands by his views, though he admits he could have been “more charitable and less insulting and offensive” in how he expressed them.
He told The Telegraph: “I would make a distinction between the individual immigrants and immigration policy as a whole. It’s really just inconsiderate and rude to go to any individual immigrant and say you don’t belong here, versus the policy which allows masses to change the demographics of an existing place.”
He added: “Most of the day I’m not hearing English. English is a second language here in England. So my experience trying to assimilate has been that I’m actually having trouble finding what I imagined British culture to be. How many immigrants are we going to allow?
“I understand I am a product of migration, obviously, but I expect to be a minority in a place that I migrate to where it’s not my ethnic homeland.”
Despite his deportation, Mr Jones still supports Trump’s immigration policies.
“Unlawful presence after learning that I was unlawfully present. I’m not making excuses, I should have been deported.
There is an illegal immigration crisis in America.”
ICE data show that 212 people were deported from the US to the UK between Mr Trump’s inauguration on Jan 20 and Oct 15 2025. That works out at an average of 5.5 individuals a week – double the rate for the same period up to the end of Joe Biden’s term as president.
The majority had failed to obtain permission to stay or never applied for citizenship, before being picked up and detained as part of enforcement operations against illegal migrants.
:story:
Poor bugger.

He's a fucking wog. Send him back where he came from and let him mingle with the other mud creatures in the breeding pits of Saruman.

Maybe he can save up and move to Ghana. They're obviously dirt poor, but...

three arrested at the al quds march in London, not heard much else. thought more would have happened.

I never got the appeal of bourbons. I used to like putting biscuits in the microwave for about 5 -10 seconds. makes them taste like they've just been baked a little.
