Currently, the tankies are angry at Persepolis, a movie based off of an autobiographical comic by Marjane Satrapi, an Iranian woman who lived through the Iranian Revolution. France's Channel 4 announced that they would be doing a special showing of Persepolis, which incited outrage from the fringe left:
[...]
They're trying to spin these scenes of her enjoying being a cringe teenager as her being "spoiled" or privileged, rather than showing how young girls like her especially got repressed by Sharia authorities after the Revolution, and were forbidden from enjoying the same comforts we take for granted in the west.
Counter point: Satrapi
was a spoiled rich girl whose family was wealthy enough to send her to Europe to study and basically subsidize her entire existence. This in no way invalidates her telling of her experiences, but her conclusions and "message" (beyond the obvious) reeks of Daddy's Money Communist poor-little-rich girl complaining.
The lessons she seems to have learned from when I watched it wasn't "communism is retarded and we need to be wary of the revolution" or "islam is a brutal and retarded sand monkey relgion and should be banned" and more "we need to make sure the revolution isn't headed by people who put religion over communism". Like she calls out the retarded Eurofag commies without looking in the mirror.
Ironically, these spoiled fucking tankies living in Western Europe or the United States and reaping the benefits of "western decadence" are chastising Satrapi in the same way the Iranian morality police were, by calling her a slut who just wants to get naked.
This is the key point. This is the ultimate pot & kettle. Its daddy's money commie calling her out for being a commie on her daddy's money. to say nothing of, as you point out, usin the same morality police talking points. They can't stop telling us that thye look at Iran repressing its people and murdering 40,000 of them because they have no firearm ownership, and instead of being repulse only think "That, but I'm in charge".
The film and book are both extremely nuanced and show every angle of the revolution whilst not straying away from the overarching oppression that it resulted in.
I found the film rediculously overrated and not very good as the whining of rich girl bitching, but definitely worth a watch especially current happenings.
Or I guess: what if Eat Pray Love, but the whining woman narrator was ACTUALLY oppressed.

Logged in just to clarify that this is obviously not true, especially given that France and Italy are currently in talks with Iran. Negotiations would implode if they actually did this. Is anyone in either of these shitty, borderline impossible to read threads making
any attempt at all to check if major news like this is even legit or if its just rumors/disinfo?
A large part is that everything is in flux, and France could have committed carrier and then rescinded by the time we'd actually know.
China's military is a little different, its not like any other generic 3rd world despot like in Russia and Venezuela where the purpose of the military is primarily to look intimidating and make the regime look strong, where there was never any intention to actually use that military for serious conflicts, Russia expected to roll over Ukraine in 3 days but got stuck in a meatgrinder, Venezuela is even more pathetic as that country can't even manage its own economy right despite being an oil powerhouse, and as we saw on that raid, the regime couldn't even trust its own countrymen entirely to defend the President, with Cubans being a substantial force.
China is genuinely trying to "Re-Unify" Taiwan, with peaceful routes no longer possible at this point, the past 20 years has them trying to modernize the PLA, a process that is still ongoing, they are obviously trying to wait for the exact right time to invade, when it doesn't look like the US is either too weak or too unwilling to intervene in Taiwan, which is really not right now with the sudden resurgence of aggression in US foreign policy.
Counter point, China has been trying to wild. They got into a mountain slap fight with India like 10 years ago and have been agitating every since.
Xi seems to have walked some of that back (see: purging generals) and I think understand that posturing for a domestic audience ot make them feel secure and then acting internationally via proxies and agents is a cheaper path that also removes internal threats from your own military.
Also, you left off a key role of Chinese military:
patronage jobs for the uneducated. I am not taking the time to flesh it out fully, but China's military has entire corps dedicated to bitchwork. If you go on a train in china, you see some guy from the army mopping the carpet, because if he wasn't in uniform mopping carpet he'd be broke in the sticks and possibly scheming about the downfall of the government.
in the event of SHTF, they are basically just meat for mill.
I am unsure how accurate this is, but someone said these bitchwork units are not even trained on using weapons. Like imagine being in the army and not being trained how to shoot.
Considering barely any American or Israeli oil actually passes through the Strait, I have no idea who they think they're even blocking anymore if they do this.
Unless that "...and their allies" line includes all of Europe and Asia, but it's not like they've been running to our aid in recent years.

I think this really discounts the fact they attacked Chinese shipping, so I don't think they have solid control of their own forces.
How many times has Trump defeated Iran within the last 2 weeks? 6?
Trump wakes up every morning, and first thing he does before having two scoops of ice cream is defeat Iran.
