I live and work near a reserve, so I rarely ever see liberal white women where I live. It was fascinating seeing one in the wild. Basically every stereotype of a white canadian liberal boomer woman.

Kek, but I think I was pleasantly surprised by my coworker's reactions. They are all women and they found none of it funny. I guess wishing death on someone isn't funny to them. It was really awkward when she would say something about Trump and nobody even reacted.

Yeah it does feel like a classic case of streisand effect happening regarding Alberta. I wouldn't say Albertans are nearly as rebellious as the government claim, but this could seen change since the gov views them as traitors no matter what.

I have done some digging and it seems very much like they are falling for their own propaganda hype on Albertan separatism. Most of them are a few loud retards on X or Americans shiposting but to Ottawa seems to think it is something huge like the Quebec separatism in the 1990s that got a vote going. Like a few pages back when some total nutcase tried to send a bullet to some dude who was publicly organizing some stuff about it.

If I had to guess some small time politician from Alberta will mention the separatism as a fringe movement that is growing and how Ottawa should try and listen, and in response the Canadian government will try and attack the guy for even mentioning it and start a witch hunt for anyone he ever spoke with.

They are gonna basically do the Qin Shi Huang meme of making the punishment for merely being percieved as being neutral towards Albertan separatism as harsh as being a politically active separatist and cause it to grow simply because it is not worth it to try and be innocent.

It makes me kind of regret that in Canada the petition counts are kept secret until the end of the signatory period, because I genuinely can't guess how many signatures we'll get because nobody knows for sure. I would guess that we already have enough, but it sounds like some of the petition collectors are worried because although 80% of the people they talk to are definitely for Seperation only like 10-20% admit that they actually signed.

If the signatures reach their goal and it becomes an official referendum question, I expect Ottowa to take it very, very poorly. They are too proud and brainwashed by their own propaganda to make any concessions and will basically begin attacking and sabotaging the province. In the worst case scenario we may actually see terrorism from people who have been radicalized by CBC and such.
 
OTTAWA — The Conservatives are pushing for changes to the Criminal Code they say would offer new protections to people who use force to defend themselves during a home invasion — but the government says Canadians already have the right to self-defence.

Ontario MP Sandra Cobena introduced a private member’s bill on Thursday that would change Section 34 of the Criminal Code so that use of force against an illegal intruder is presumed to be justified.

“When they defend themselves from criminals who terrorize our neighbourhoods, Canadians are forced through long and costly trials just to defend themselves,” she said.

The proposal is something party leader Pierre Poilievre called for the Liberals to introduce back in the summer.

A Conservative party press release from August said the current Canadian law is “vague and subjective.” It cited a case from 2019, when an Ontario man was arrested after shooting a person who had invaded his home during a struggle and spent six months in jail before the charges were dropped.

Justice Minister Sean Fraser said he hadn’t seen the text of Cobena’s bill on Thursday afternoon and he wasn’t able to say whether the government would support it.

Former prime minister Stephen Harper’s government made changes in 2013 to simplify the law. Those changes mean “Canadian law allows you to use force and get off the hook and claim defensive force more easily than in the U.S.,” Weisbord said.

Not even surprised, it's typical for politics. The more eye opening aspect is how many MPs are willing to take the offer: either they're fine knowing they're never getting re-elected, or think the payoff is worth being branded a traitor for the rest of their political lives.

I am very much looking forward to when this midwit gets his first true scandal/crisis. He absolutely loathes getting questions or push back even from the most milquetoast of places (like CBC) which ensures lots of choice clips once the baggage grows too significant. They're actually dumber than you think, unlike in the US they can't just immediately sue your ass. Every single person getting named here was given multiple warnings from their ISP that they decided to just ignore.

First, the law firm sends them notices, giving them seven days to take the movie down and stop giving it away. If they comply, then typically nothing happens.

If they don’t stop, the firm issues a second notice indicating it reserves the right to sue the alleged movie pirates.

Happy one year anniversary of Mark Carney being our Prime Minister. Nothing has fundamentally improved. The Liberals are trying to push through bills that will severely compromise our freedom of speech, our society is still circling the drain at a rapid pace, and the majority of this country either do not seem to care or don't even think it's happening and will gladly lap up another four years of Liberal rule when they're given the opportunity to do so.
