A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

If you want better vitamin d levels stop letting women skip the yolk in eggs. It's the best bit and so many women are retarded and don't want it or serve it.
The only people I have ever known who skip egg yolks are competitive bodybuilders who, in Olden Days before huge tubs of protein powders, used to drink egg whites and skipped the yolks because they wanted to consume a dozen or more eggs per day. Are you sure this woman you dated was not in fact Geoff Capes in a blonde wig?

How common are British incest babies?
If you mean full incest of parent-child or sibling, extremely rare, wholly abuse cases. If you mean first cousins, a thing but uncommon. And certainly rare enough to not be a problem. A low rate of cousin marriage can even help beneficial mutations become established due to something called the Founder's Effect. (If you're born with a slightly better immune system trait for example, but your descendents never intermarry at all, then it will go away again). But if you're including Pakistani communities, incredibly common because it is culturally encouraged to keep wealth in the family. And there leads to common problems as @Otterly highlights.

You’d need 6 eggs a day to meet even the minimum requirement (which is about 10-20x too low anyway depending on what you read, and I’m doubtful most supermarket eggs even contain that level these days the way hens are treated.)
If you eat six eggs a day, you'll go once a week.

As an auditor/controller in a previous life. I think there should be a financial OSINT linked to benefit claims. So, for example, the British visually impaired/autistic/wheelchair etc. These numbers are actually negligible. The benefits system was put in place to support people like this. It's a very low percentage of the population.

What I propose;
  1. You have to be British ENTIRELY. A lot of other countries have this in place, and rightly so. How Osint will go into this; looks into grandparents andgreat grandparents, and X if so. Other countries do similar procedures if they cannot track the grandparent(s). The case is scrapped entirely.
  2. The scope of illnesses and authentication changed. So for example, conditions like ADHD are removed as these conditions clearly do not prevent you from living normally. Bad back scrapped, etc. Now the kicker: incest babies. Since it is predetermined knowledge that by fucking a relative, you are creating a social contract that you are accepting, that is an outcome/risk. The claimant is accepting this as a cause they have done. Now, what is the difference between this and a work-based injury that is severe? Well, the receiver of illness is a taxpayer, but also a result of something unforeseen. Fucking your cousin and creating a tard baby is not unforeseen but a known consequence.
We need to address wages in this country, though. They're far too low. There are some managers on less than 30k pre-tax.
The thing is, assessing all these people is time-intensive and also requires non-trivial training. I knew someone who literally ran workshops on what to say to assessors along the lines of "this is hard for them to prove you don't have it..., you can delay it by filling out this claim..." sort of thing. Sometimes you need repeat follow-ups or extensive investigation. If it's one person and you can take the time to go through everything and say "hey, this person's finances don't add up" and "how come this kid is registered at two addresses," etcetera, it's fine. But the human resource on for example, proving that generic person who showed up is actually the person on the claim, or that they even exist, is a big cost. And once you've busted one bogus claim, that same person will immediately make another.

A key issue is that we have no means of punishing such people (that is acceptable currently). You imprison someone? Now you're taking four kids into care for the sake of four months sentence. And the prison care will cost you more than the benefits, short-term, too.

So much of our country's punishments are really only applicable to people who are invested in their future, have something you can take away or want to fit into a normally functioning community. But on that last one in particular, these people often aren't in a normally functioning community but one filled with people like themselves. One where, as I mentioned earlier, there are people running fucking classes on how to defraud the benefits system. You can't shame such people. You can't financially take away what they have because they don't really have anything. And whilst most Middle Class people tremble at the very thought of even the mildest criminal record knowing that it means a half-decade of never getting the sort of job they're trained for, it means little to most benefit thieves.

To adjust to some of the situations you have today, you'd need to look back to Victorian times and re-institute the Poor House and similar. You might get a bunch of support for that in this thread but not much (yet) in the general public.

There has to be a big and significant change that addresses the fundamental issues in the country, as there's only so much you can do in the current parameters.

And as to UBI. I'm open to the idea that some form of it could work. With increasing automation, I'm open to the argument it might even become necessary. But UBI can only work in a closed system. I.e. very strict admissions as to who gets to join the party. You can look at the Gulf States (which are now suddenly Good Guys because "Iran") and see how they have limited citizenship and a massive slave class, or close to it, so that they have wealth sharing but only to the privileged citizen class. I don't want that though. I don't think we need or should desire a large resident foreign work force. We can run our industry ourselves if we can just stop doing things like suppressing wages with large immigration, boosting house prices and rents with large immigration and draining our welfare budget with large immigration. There's a theme, here.

Egg white omelettes became a thing a while back, some California fad because the calories and fat are in the yolk. Buffoons.

Eggs are good food. The whole "go to work on an egg" thing was good advice.
I once read that pre-industrialisation we evolved from rodents and lizards, who would snatch eggs from nests to survive.
What's good for the goose is good for the gecko. We were at a mate's place this weekend, so my children ate waffles made with little eggs from his fancy hens.
Eat eggs and get sunlight. Take your lead from @Otterly and don't burn.
(For waffles, you need to whisk the egg separately from the rest of the batter, then fold it in. That's what gives them that fluffy texture.)

I've just been reading the Jon Venables thread:
Sick bastard who killed a toddler.
I was quite young when Jamie Bulger was tortured and murdered. I may once have been guilty of having believed that the killers were young and naive. Now that I have children of my own, the whole thing feels so much more sinister. They knew what they were doing to that poor child, and what they did was horrendous. I get angry just reading about it.
Damn them both to Hell. I hope they eventually get the Ian Huntley treatment.

A couple of bad eggs. They deserve to be broken. Slowly.

I know that Huntley's killer was a rapist and a murderer. He raped and killed a pregnant woman, so I will never celebrate that trash.

Are you guys ready to see yourself in the annual People of Hate report? Everyone in this thread is a certified terrorist. Reading the Social Cohesion proposal was just insanity.
If a picture of Zorg makes it's way into an annual of people of hate report then I'll die happy.

"You're a racist, Zorg."
"I know."

Hence me saying safety. When I was young I could run or walk to work along the river path in total safety. You eliminate the criminals and society becomes safer.
Literally just had a conversation with a young lad at work trying to convince me that this new pub in town was 'really chill' and a great place to go out for a pint by yourself. Lad I cannot walk back through the city anymore without being yelled at. I love going to a grim boozer for the football or a small pub by myself for a local concert if my mates are busy, but the vibes are just so different nowadays. From free caps/covers for your drinks due to spiking or having to walk past crowds of dead-eyed blacks and spaced out junkies it's fucking horrid.

The historical figures on the banknotes are being replaced with animals. There will be a consultation in summer. Original article, archive.

I know of people who have been waiting for a PIP renewal for over a year now. One of them is missing body parts. He is never going to regrow them, he's never getting better. Why is he being reassessed at all? It's a waste of time. They're still paying out and he gets a letter or a text message every few months saying they plan to reassess him at some point.

Have you tried not wearing the dress and high heels?

In all seriousness, I don't get yelled at in the towns here. What sort of thing is being yelled? I'm always on edge though, Too many darkies and mental illness on display, but no shouting unless it's black women at each other.

Because the system is over-burdened with real fraud and nothing is scaling. The staff at the coal face are overwhelmed and the people at the top wont address the fundamental issues.

Good luck to your friend, btw.

I wear 'jeans and a nice top', I can't walks heels and I don't like dresses. I got called a slut at the tram stop wearing a hoodie and jeans because I was putting my hair up in a ponytail next to some Arab looking man who was offended by my hair. Or they'll come up to you and ask what you're doing out alone and try follow you even after you tell them to fuck off. Secondly yelling at women just because they are in dresses and heels is darkie behaviour.

They are afraid that White people on the bank notes lacks DEI but they fear that putting a non-White figure on there will cause more problems. So they're trying to dodge out entirely by putting cute animals on there so they can say "Why do you hate owls" to critics.

The thing is, the person has to be British (except on the front of the note - you're allowed a German there) and all the people notable enough to be on the small pool of places, are White. We had Newton and there are other great British scientists we could use. Literary figures like Byron (oo, boy - that would be "problematic") or John Milton. Engineers and architects like Brunel or Wren. And I can think of several well qualified women I'd be happy to see on there. Ada Lovelace topping the list, but I think she might have already been on one?

But I cannot right now think of any non-White British people of sufficient achievement to go on there. Some good people, but not "get the £10 note, good".

There are no women on the internet.

Women don't get yelled at around here. They just stare, it's creepy to see.

But I cannot right now think of any non-White British
No such thing exists.

Leave Queen Victoria on the notes. It's better then her spacker son and his used up hag of a wife.

Last time I was in my home town I was wearing jeans, boots, and a long jacket. I’m middle aged and I’m hardly some glamorous siren. I was by our train station at night coming back from meeting a friend down south and I got leered at by a bunch of Arab looking men who started getting a bit close. There was a security guard (massive dude) who deliberately came and stood next to me and they kind of slunk away.
It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. You’re prey.
A few days later I went to see another friend in the morning (also wrapped up well because cold) and some random guy was determined to sit next to me in the station waiting room and put his hand on my leg. It’s like everyone’s lost any semblance of control

Where did you read this!? timecube.net??

Eta:
16yo male eventually found & now in custody & 14/15 yo female victim in hospital with 'minor' stab wounds.
I've noticed use of the term "non-life changing" wounds in these sorts of situations. I kinda know what they're getting at - there's a distinction - but personally I think getting stabbed at all would change my life to some extent. I'd probably not want to go outside for a long time.

Weasel wording isn’t it? I’m sure the 14 year old girl who just got stabbed won’t change her life at all, she will just shrug it off!
Poor kid.

I'd love to know more about the perpetrator. Was hoping the chavs on facebook would be naming names but I see nothing so far. My first thought is that the little bastard was spurned in love. If that was my daughter I'd want him strung up poor lass.

I know.

And for all my noise, I actually do try to help women in those situations. If I see too much leering or obvious predatory actions I'll go stand by the woman, give her a nod and a smile then stay close by. I'm not the biggest guy, but I have a good resting bitch face. A bloke standing close by is usually enough to warn them off.

It's sad what this country has come to.
