If I was a evil cartoon dictator I would have mines secretly attached to the straits waterbed that I can release up to the surface with a button.

(they retract too when the normies give into my demands)

Pearl Harbor and 9/11 were gigantic intelligence failures that required several dozen different warnings from different sources and stations, from every branch to be ignored time and time again until the last hours before they happened.

There's no excuse, there's no level of incompetence on this level that can be justified, thus the conspiracy theories.
The result is the same either way, several thousand dead Americans and a war that lasted years, with America's adversaries (USSR, China falling to communism, in ww2, Iran, Russia, China strengthened, American popularity severely weakened due to Iraq, Afghanistan's 20 year disaster, rise of ISIS and Al Qaeda).
Either it was planned this way from the start, or the American institutions were deliberately sabotaged; warnings casually filed away on desk drawers, people dismissed and fired for warning and trying to bypass the chain of command, because someone looked at the coming storm and thought it was the perfect opportunity to start to sell raincoats.
The Radar station at Hawaii was not being manned in a wartime manner and the incoming Japanese were detected about 40 minutes before they arrived. Warnings were ignored or not communicated.

Literally a dithering low rank soldier and an incredulous officer and a tied up phone line. Oh and a shift change.

The USA had quite literally the most INCOMPETENT/unlucky officer produced in
WW2

He was happily transmitting detailed US/British troops movements while he was attached to the British in Cairo during Rommel's time in North Africa using compromised US codes that Italians had broken months before.

This gave Rommel extremely good intel and was a factory in almost every single victory the Africa Corps had.

When he was reassigned Rommel suddenly started losing.

Interestingly enough, if pearl didn't happen, the USN would do their battle plan of immediately sailing to aid the phillipines, where they'd fall into the textbook Japanese trap of the decisive battle, you'd have 6 carriers with the most experienced and drilled air crews with the best naval aircraft of 1941, heavy cruisers drilled on night fighting and submarines with the best and longest range torpedoes of the war, and the Japanese battleship fleet of 6 modernized ships, vs 3 carriers, 9 old battleships and 12 heavy cruisers.

Also there's the odd question of the b-17s being recalled at the last moment in the phillipines by McArthur after they detected a massing invasion force in Taiwan shortly after pearl harbor, those bombers were then shortly after the denial, bombed and strafed to pieces by the Japanese.
A decisive battle may still have gone the Americans way and wouldn't have led to a US capitulation if it didn't.
There's also a lot of gun camera footage of dangerous horse carts being destroyed in mid 1945
Because that was the primary logistics vehicle of 1945 Germany.
Okay, so the little bit about "kill quotas" and such was just anachromism for dramatic flare on your part. Which is a perfectly normal little slip up to make or whatever. Its fine. People don't know everything and make assumptions.

My great-grand-mother-in-law had her sister shot by the Brits strafing a mixed military/civilian train 100% these things happened. But not to fullfill a quota or cruelty, typically just lack of ground level intellegence for the pilots. "Train is carrying an 88. Time to zip it engine to caboose with machimegun fire".

In year of pur lord 2026, every input and action taken by the pilot is recorded and reviewed. The aren't trigger happy coyboys, and if they were they would be immediately held accountable.

Closterman himself has been proven decisively to have over blown his owm record by x3 his actual credited performance during the war, interestingly and particularly his ground attack record.
He was a butthurt Frenchman all along
E-dog wants to rebuild the Ottoman empire and already has Syria in the bag and Azerbaijan half way there.
Other way around, Azerbaijan and Turkey are literally"two nations on people " while Syria is Turkish aligned but still Arab.
North Korea and Pakistan, the other unreliable nuclear entities, have also shown that they aren't retards with the button. Norks have been working on ballistic missiles but none with nuclear payload capability, only short ones to hit Worst Korea and Japan. They are the crazy hermit kingdom but haven't made any moves that make them seem unstable or likely to strike first. They just make themselves not worth the risk.
THe Norks also don't sponsor international terrorism, though the west cucking on their hacking and scam farms is cringe
N. Kora now has solid fueled ICBMs capable of getting a few hundred kilograms to the USA and they've been considered operational since ~2021 along with liquid fueled ones since ~2017.

Their bombs are implosion types, boosted fission types and probably some gun types.

Is there any actual evidence of this other than some anonymous sources selling a quick story to CNN?
All I've seen officially is that they've started blowing up boats that could be used to drop mines, but haven't actually dropped any yet.
They didn't even say they have, an intelligence report came out which said Iran is likely to attempt to mine the strait, which caused Trump sperging and possibly also USN & USAF to start targeting mine-layers in port.

how many do you think they have?, its gotta be in the dozens, surely they prepared for this contingency of holding the gulf hostage and more importantly, the energy trade by proxy to stop the war
It's not how many they have.

It's how many they can keep alive.

thats not a bad idea at all, you could have them on chains behind big doors, you would need a way to get large amounts of hydraulic power down there but we do that with drilling operations, maintenance on those would be a son of a bitch.

I know its been reported, im including the CNN article for posterity, they are mining the straits and according to Sal of Whats going on with shipping just the threat of mines is enough to deter shipping on an insurance level until multiple independent assessors can confirm there is none or they have been removed, btw trump put the US tax payer as the final securer of international shipping, you rember that insurance he approved? it only covers 20* billion in liability AND JUST THE HULLS of the vessels outside the gulf are worth 350 billion to say nothing of the cargo they might have on board and humans running it.. So now we are the worlds shipping insurance but our own warships wont even tranist the area to guard OUR ships

just a wild place to be

Have you considered reading the thread before giving retarded takes?

The Bombings will continue until freedom improves. We can do this all year.
What? No we can't. I have been assured by the brownest, seethingest hands that the US stockpiles are finished, that the US has no more missiles left of any kind, and that Iran will soon triumph and all the gulf states will abandon the US for reliable partners China and Russia, causing the world to go fully multipolar and everyone to BROOOOOOOCS like crazy.

how many do you think they have?,
10.

its gotta be in the dozens, surely they prepared for this contingency of holding the gulf hostage and more importantly, the energy trade by proxy to stop the war
Spends a whole week watching Iran be mogged in real time, rendered so completely fucked that US and Jew tankers are refueling planes over Iran, have their strategic missile reserves so completely annihilated that they can only manage a single missile launch last night, watch their leadership elect a comatose man supreme leader and go through their whole leadership song-and-dance with a fucking portrait

Turns to the thread, earnestly asks
"Surely they couldn't have been so retarded as to..."

I highly doubt nuclear weapons are going to start flying.
Don't kill my dreams like that man. Not cool.

None that I have seen, but its not like its outlandish.

Other way around, Azerbaijan and Turkey are literally"two nations on people " while Syria is Turkish aligned but still Arab.
The ottoman empire wasn't all Turkish. E-dog isn't eyeing population replacement, just they all take orders from Istanbul Ankara Azerbaijan is not yet wholly puppeted, shown by them actually mobilizing against Iran. Syria, however, is 100% Turk puppets.

Remember, the reason they are down to shooting just one missile at Israel is because they are conserving their true strength. Not because the perfidous jews and their yankee lap dogs have blown up all the launchers.
They have Russian officers in Tehran instructing them on how to build a cauldron.

first of all my dear mindless my only "take" was this was wild, other than that I just included reported info.

your right thought Im glad I fact checked myself, its not 200 billion I was mistaken, its 20 billion

so if a bunch of ships suddenly go down and that 20 billion limit is exceeded, docent matter WHOSE ships they are, it will come out of US tax payer dollars, this is not my "take" this is just the reality of what a state backing maritime reinsurance MEANS.

id encourage you all to read it, this war is so much more about insurance than anything else

Here is an interesting discussion on what is going on in Iran. According to Pape the US has gotten itself into the 'smart bomb trap'. With smart bombs that allow one side to snipe the enemy leadership comes the believe to be in control of the battlefield and therefore the war. While smart bombs enable the US to achieve stunning tactical successes, they don't secure any of the strategic goals. In the case of Iran, the most pressing strategic goal is to take Irans cache of enriched uranium.
The second point Pape makes is that the bombardment of Fordo with smart weapons last year worsened the strategic problem of the US in that now the enriched uranium is dispersed in smaller portions across Iran and can not be neutralized with an air campaign. Thus the ease of achieving tactical successes via smart bombs made US planners fall for the believe that these local successes would translate into fulfilling the strategic goal.
Now the US has committed to a path that forces them to continue escalating, because the only chance to secure Irans uranium is by eventually committing ground troops. Worse, now that the uranium is likely dispersed across all of Iran, the matter won't be done with a raid by commando units.
Pape further explains that if the regime falls or Iran becomes a Lybia-tier failed state, that means that you have hundreds of kilograms of bomb making capable nuclear material spread out across the country and however many factions. An even worse strategic risk for the US.

Seems pretty logical to me. Happy fun times ahead if this theory proves true!

Ehh could believe it, but the caveats will be about as plentiful as BRICS hands seething away at the keyboard. There are definitely grunt-level desertions happening (lack of shelter, food, and consistent risk of getting ganked by missile are enough incentives), but the degree of them will hinge on the unit and its ethnic make up. For example Kurds and Azeris for one will likely desert more than ethnic Persians, and any unit not near centralized command will have higher desertion rates overall.

Would be very surprised if any commissioned officier has jumped ship yet though; everyone is in a holding pattern to see when Trump gives a green light and what that entails, because jumping too soon could see you caught and executed vs. securing a decent position in whatever post-IRC government emerges.

The potential damages that shipping insurance covers also include economic after effects when damaged ships can't make their deliveries. Potentially millions or billions when production lines have to shut down or states have to ration gas/oil.
