The US is founded in many many good decisions. But you can only reap bounties from past sows so far

I've never seen a US president so bent in shitting up relations with allies and starting conflicts. If i was wearing my tinfoil hat i'd say this guy is proactively sabotaging US' centuries long good fortune

It's widely said he's either the stupidest President we've ever had or a Manchurian Candidate deliberately weakening the country and at this point both options seem equally likely.

I suppose they're not mutually exclusive, either.

The problem with Trump ultimately is his leadership ability. He identified problems that the American people wanted resolved in the form of unchecked migration and the loss of manufacturing jobs. His solutions are about creating immediate successes implemented by yes men.

There’s no questioning if a policy can be implemented or what pushback there will be. While the shrewd political operatives in his camp know that there will be pushback, I think Trump is surprised when there is resistance to his agenda. Everyone tells him his plans are great, so there’s no rational reason to oppose him in his mind.

I wouldn't call it pessimism, but rather realism. I wouldn't say it was ever this bad. It wasn't yet, and the internal situation in the country and the political divisions have long been a ticking time bomb, and this administration is adding fuel to the fire. What I would call optimistic here is that a civil war might not break out, but realistically, it's not out of the question. So, will the US survive Trump? Yes, maybe 20 years longer, but rather up to 15 years maximum. The country will fall, but hopefully it will happen peacefully, not through civil war.

Let's make both parties into regional ones. Drop the vote mobilization from 70mil/70mil for faction red and faction blue down to 30mil/30mil. Non-voting is the best protest you can do against the same party, evident by how it pisses off voters of both factions immensely. Nobody takes elections with no turnout seriously.
