I think with age you realize that arguing isn't necessarily about converting somebody to your position immediately, but instead to embed your ideas into them, in the hope that some time they may recall them and come around to your position. With age you realize this can take 5, 10, 15, 20+ years. It is always worthwhile to argue with someone for that possibility. It can take a generation to bear fruit. I think (hope?) with this generation it bears fruit.

Impo, the utility of arguing is to better understand your own position - to work off the edges.
 


So apparently the US government has in it's possession a Russian microwave weapon that can destroy living tissue invisibly, and there are classified videos of this weapon being used on US federal agents.

Microwave weapons are a boondogle because they don’t penetrate metal well and by the time they become effective your target probably will have moved.
