There's barely a blip on the global market
$110/bbl oil 12 hours before the US markets even open isn't "barely a blip" my dude. All the "experts" were saying $100 this week. Try $200. Maybe ten days before $10/gal gas?

If anybody can explain how this ends I'm all ears. Before long the world will give Iran anything they want and that will be the end of the petrodollar.

How will Europe or China or Russia be able to do anything here? The US still has the massive stockpiles of Oil and the only refineries that can handle Venezuelan oil. Plus only shipping channels to Asia or Europe.

If the world is so cucked that it will give a terrorist regime free rein to fuck with oil prices after only a week when they don't even have a nuclear weapon, the world deserves whatever it gets.
Why do you think the world has tolerated Iran's shit for this long?!?!?!?! There's nothing that could be done - as the world's half-wit population is suddenly realizing.

Trump has made it very clear that he doesn't give two shits about people complaining about oil prices, and all the members of his cabinet are on the same page.
If Congress wants to remove him from office, they have every legal right to do so. Would be humorous to see them prove how owned they are by foreign powers.

I don't like higher gas prices. But I can deal with it. Plus, Winter is about over.

Summer blend/spring time usually means higher gasoline prices anyway, bit later than March I guess though. May-ish, so this might be pretty bad for awhile.

Some US allies will begin looking to further diversify their friendships/alliances so they don't find themselves waking up 10 or 20 years from now caught between the US and some other shitty foreign power. Some nations may grow closer to the US simply because they fear our mercurial nature. Unless we end the Iranian regime as it stands now, I can't imagine all this doing good for us. Then again, we fucked over Iraq and fought decades long wars without collapsing or losing all our allies. We even built stronger relations with some so IDK. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Maybe. If it goes to 5 a gallon where I live, then I will start to be annoyed. But it won't be a deal breaker. Still worth it to see the Revolution burn.

The entire premise of the petrodollar is that the world tolerates our bullshit so long as we guarantee the free flow of oil. Well Trump has just proven to the world that we can no longer do that. Russia and China can though. Their ships can transit. There is now exactly ZERO reason for any middle-eastern country to host us now or even pretend to like us. The true puppets will now face overthrow because again we are now impotent in the eyes of the Arab world and can protect nothing.

Why do you think the world has tolerated Iran's shit for this long?!?!?!?!
Because despite their constant threats, they didn’t actually fuck with the flow of oil.

Then they decided to bomb random neutral gulf states like Oman just to fuck with the global supply of oil. The math has changed.

Consistent with their current strategy, Iran is also fucking everyone over by attacking tankers randomly.
China isn’t risking it.

I wonder how that Nancy Guthrie investigation is going.
I guess it proves that you can still beat the surveillance state by just dressing up like the riddler.

Let's say no one does anything, and they eventually develop those nukes they bragged about being away from finishing. Should we all just admit defeat, throw up our hands, and say "They won the games, folks. Guess they were lucky to spawn in the oil area"?
These people are fucking insane. They would immediately have fired a nuke at the first shot, and you're lying to yourself if you say otherwise.

I'm not talking about gas prices so much as I am the entire global financial system as we all know it. It's all based on the US guaranteeing shipping. That's what has allowed us to run up $40 TRILLION in debt and still eat. I don't think it's quite sinking in what that means.

Can of beans?

My position is pretty much wrap this shit up quickly and all will be well. a couple weeks of shitty gas prices is fine, a couple months not so much.

I"m sure we have some levers to pull, oil reserves is one that is probably gonna be on the table soon. How much of our oil do we refine ourselves? And can we just keep some of Venezuela's oil for a little bit as well?

It'd be nice, but probably won't happen. Iran just elected Khameni's son as new leader and he's pretty pissed off since his wife and dad were killed.

All because Israel and Lady Lindsey convinced Trump to invade Iran...

Not that concerned. I've heard this all before.

Ollie the Weatherman voice: "SHE DEAD!"

What? That's not what the petrodollar is. It's the idea that oil from OPEC (bought with US dollars) is basically the new reserve currency after the Bretton-Woods system of gold/silver bullion backing went away.

I don't get why we don't just invade Saudi Arabia, bahrain, etc and steal all their oilfields. Their armies are absolute dogshit. We could just take it and if someone fucks with us they are cut off from like 80% of all oil. The only explanation I can find is that it will expose that oil is not actually limited and can be easily synthesized or something.
