Understandable.
Personally I'm just sort of indifferent to this conflict but the longer it goes on the less sympathetic I am to it, and between this and the rumblings of Cuba I'm disappointed at the switch to a hawkish policy. At the same time, I'm very absurdist in nature and usually feel that that if something funny happens that ends up, ironically, benefitting everyone in the long run then maybe it's worth it in the long run. Or at least it makes everything feel less monotonous. Personally, I hope that this shit ends within a couple weeks and whatever happens in Cuba isn't to do with American involvement.
i find that totally understandable too. i grew up in the era of the forever war, so i'm still very skittish too, but i'm trying to be confident that things will turn out well. doomers got embarrassed by venezuela being so great. iran isn't doing well, despite people bragging that they've cost us a total of .3% of our total military budget for the year, so it's not exactly a big expenditure, and they have now been significantly diminished in their ability to strike the US. early on they got a lucky hit during their big missile throwing attacks across the middle east, and 6 servicemembers died. but they weren't even in combat, they were just deployed overseas in the same way you'd deploy to a korean military base. iran utilizing this MAD retaliation against everyone in the middle east has destroyed their reputation.
ultimately, iran ever becoming nuclear was a SERIOUS threat to the united states. imagine them being able to simply fuck with us endlessly because they have a nuclear ICBM aimed at us that they WILL use if they ever lose a war, meaning they can just blow shit up and fund terrorism or even use actual state resources to harass us, our international allies (which matters for trade) and control of the strait of hormuz, which they are already abusing even WITHOUT nuclear weapons.
re: cuba, i don't think that's going to be more than like, the snatch and grab we did for maduro, because we're working on getting charges together, so we want to try them, not blow up the country. cuba's a VERY different beast, one that is far worse off right now than even iran as it gets turned into lots of glass pockets in the middle of the desert.
I wish my mom would uninstall Instagram/TikTok from her phone and never touch it again because that's all she ever fucking sends me via SMS. And then she gets pissed off at me when I tell her it's a scam, like she thinks i'm lying to her or just dismissing her for whatever reason.
could it be that she feels self-conscious or angry (at herself) because she didn't realize it's a scam, and she's too embarrassed to admit it or something?
