beacuse its a complicated, messy, and environmentally taxing process we have next to no experience in and its WAY cheaper to just ship it to china and have them do it cause their government has spend 40 years and hundreds of billions developing a robust rare earth metals refining industry with home grown science and expertise that only comes with working with the product in question for years if not decades.

But dont worry we have already started working on this issue to,..... in Janurary

When its finally built (not been announced or even speculated when that will be) it will produce 50 metric tons of Gallium a year (on paper)

3 years ago China was making 606 gallons a year, it could be nearly as high as a 1,000 now.
bro have you ever seen a chinese rare earths refinery

shit looks like someone dumped 800 gorillion gallons of acid on the earth. their home grown science and expertise is we don't care how messy and inefficient our process is so long as we get what we want

there are 3 gallium refineries that are building in the US. two are expected to start production in 2028. one has an estimated production of 50 tons a year. a third one with estimated 54 tons annual production will start in 2030

you think the MIC doesn't have any refined gallium for use in current production? lol

no shade to you, i agree too, but do you have sources for the Raytheon replacements?
No but I can

i'm more and more justified in my dislike of the patriot missile defense system as the war moves on. also, what exactly is going on with middle east spectator guy? i'm bad at remembering these names, was he a pro-regime guy in another country? you answered this.

sounds like we should absolutely pound iran even harder then, make sure they can't launch another missile so it's not a problem. i agree. i don't think you and i will ever agree on this.
What country does he operate out of?
It was rumored he was a muslim convert living in the Netherlands, I believe, with his Iranian wife.
He was the one I was getting all the Iranian cope posts from and the videos of the tiny pro-regime demonstrations. One of the admins of his channel is confirmed to have served in Syria and an admin interviewed an Iranian senator or something after the 12 Day War. He was the main Axis of Resistance Telegram channel. This would be like if Syrian Girl got arrested. I haven't smiled this much since Null mentioned me on MATI.

well that's from 2025 but it's a cool article none the less.

i think i'm gonna have to stop engaging with it. i don't even care if the thing is replaced during this, the answer is that we do not need to be concerned about that, because we can adjust strategy. i agree it will cost money and take time, the argument they're having is not with me but with the war, it's a talking point against it. the us built shiny cool shit that we should never ever put in danger so we can never ever go to war, because it might endanger our tanks and jets and stuff.

it's a drastic lack of understanding about how war works.

I'll have to fetch some. There isnt a THAAD radar packed away in a warehouse somewhere. There are all the parts to make several THAAD radars packed in boxes. Lockheed has the production capacity to make *400* missles a year at the flip of a switch. Raytheon is in a continuous upgrade cycle with THAAD.

Actual proof that the US and Israel has full control of their air space lmao.

Asking in an edit, been talking to my filipino friend and over at the Philippines all the gas stations are completely empty, can anyone else confirm this and if this affected other shitholes in the asian continent?
At some point you just turn the transponders on because the risk of collisions and friendly fire is more significant than enemy fire.

I get why US is pissed at Israel for giving Iranians Gehenna special by blowing up oil(fuel?) depots, considering all the personal accounts relayed by people in this thread ended up blaming US/Trump for it. I imagine it's bad enough without hellfire under your feet and unbreathable air, on top of not having water.
All the smoke probably obscures satellite surveillance in the area as well.

"Published: 13 March 2025

The US could produce substantial amounts of some critical materials it sources from China within just a few years, Harvey Kaye, a director of US Critical Materials Corp., said during an interview."
Great, so 5 to 8 years until a replacement can be produced is a realistic estimate.

Even if a replacement radar can be procured within 6 months, that's still a very long time during a war. Certainly the US has other systems that can pick up some of the slack. But if the destroyed radars were providing nothing to the US military, why were they maintained? Yes, America can undoubtly replace every single piece of equipment Iran destroys. In the short to medium term the US military can still be crippled in key areas.
I know I say this alot but its damn near immposible to overstate how insanly important the AN/FPS 2 is there is SIX in the whole world, 5 now and they are all very far from the one that just bought the farm
1773009044548.png

this is a map showing the original 5, they were meant as THE single main artery of missile defense for the nation
1773009125491.png

this 6th one came later, and its the only one outside of the US's "Sphere of influence"

there is every possibility that Radar is never replaced, thats how insanely 1 of 1 it was

i appreciate the search later on. i always ask for evidence of stuff like that because i haven't heard anything about it, so it's a bit extraordinary to me; but certainly not impossible.

really, i think it's just that it changes the strategy, makes it a bit harder to intercept, but at the same time, iran is burning through a reserve of missiles that will not be replenished, and they have lost some of their munitions in strikes as well. launchers included. they are not anywhere close to the level of power they were at the start. there is also just no way to get the US and IDF out of the sky, we're both swarming like hornets and the first thing we did was completely erase their air defenses. that's why there have been zero iranian strikes on actual planes or other aircraft.

iran is also giving everyone else the gehenna special, so it's not like it's a unique trait to the heebs. iran went full on MAD and hit at least one other country's airport fuel tanks, and there was that strike on the apartment in... kuwait i think, a high rise that just was random civilian housing. iran is just a thrashing animal right now, and that refined fuel allows them to continue thrashing and killing wildly.

i have linked you information on this before. did you start drinking again, dude? this is shit that happened almost exactly a year ago.

we have neodymium and gallium. you should know this already.
We have a strategic reserve for military use. We have since WW2. Trump has been more hawkish on rare earths and prospecting, Biden did do the review as he was supposed to.

Unironically the 51st state shit with Trump is likely eyeing Canadian resources to be turned into reserves. Canada has a fuck ton, but the issue is that Canada refuses to develop lands (that no one fucking lives on or near) or is stuck holding their dick because permitting sucks. There is the environmental issue of it being cold, but the largest issue is Ottawa wanting to hamstring anyone from doing anything.

The US does actually have one major mine and minor mines for rare earths.

Edit: it’s Mountain Pass in California, but that one is solely dedicated to a Carbonatite deposit.

Most Porphyry copper deposits and some Superior Iron Deposits in the US do actually have some amount of REEs. A huge thing right now is looking at tailings to reprocess them. US environmental groups that aren’t watermelon commie fucks actually like this because it cleans up old environmental disasters and makes jobs.

Be careful gathering all these in one place, you might create retard singularity.

If it's actually fuel they use to launch missiles, then I suppose it can't be helped.
