I'm mostly talking about stories of Nero and Caligula. I'm sure that the innate disgust heterosexual people feel from watching homosex isn't a creation of the modern age and also that homostuff has been around forever. So I'd expect it to exist, but be sidelined and constrained by social expectations, same as always.

And the elite were also always homosexual pedophiles as well. Your point fails the moment you realize that Nero would be a member of the Roman elite and was hellbent on doing everything to piss off and oppress early Christians. Which is what inevitably led to his downfall. Caligula wanted to piss off the elite. So the propaganda against him comes from the gay pedophile elite. But Nero was quite the opposite.
