Rubio explicitly claimed literally yesterday that Israel was going to attack with or without the US and so the US attacked to pre-empt attacks on US assets. Which is what led to this question. My guess is Trump thought that answering on the record that Israel forced his hand would make him sound weak, so he went and answered the exact opposite from what Rubio did. I trust Rubio's answer on this.
Well i trust Trump more than Rubio simply because Trump literally can't lie.

And Rubio didn't say Israel would attack without US- did you think we really moved all the ships there to sit out?

I have some questions for the more tactically-minded Kiwis:
  1. Everyone and their brother wants their piece of the Iranian pie (Iran brought it on themselves, admittedly.) I get that America and Israel love their war crimes, but these are inbred Arabs and Pakis with significantly less self-control. If we let them get involved, what're the odds of them simply leveling entire neighborhoods? If we tell them to stay out, will they get involved anyway?
  2. Trump is looking into which insurgent groups to arm against the Mullahcracy. However, the last time we armed and trained an insurgency was during the Cold War, which led directly to 9/11 and a 20-year boondoggle (nevermind that we trained the soldiers that overthrew the Shah in 1979). What steps, if any, is Trump taking to avoid this?
  3. What new forever enemy will AIPAC pick to replace Iran?

Nobody here cares about what a significant portion of people think. According to prior polls (before this even started getting dragged out), only something like 25% of the US populace support the war. This is the absolute ceiling. But if you were just looking at posts here, you'd think there's widespread support or at least it's 50-50. Most people here live exclusively in bubbles of their own making and refuse to interact with opposing or even foreign viewpoints in good faith. It is what it is, so either embrace it and keep engaging for whatever reason it is you're engaging in the first place, or don't and in that case you're probably wasting your time.
What?
48% of Americans oppose and 37% of Americans support the strikes. It's mostly split between party lines. In different questions (such as killing Ayatollah) support jumps.

The UAE is considering attacking Iran, according to C12. Additionally, the channel reports that France has brought fighter jets to the Middle East to defend its bases after Iran struck one of their hangars in the UAE. Both France and the UK are also sending ships to Cyprus to defend the island after Iran launched missiles towards it, and now with Hezbollah serving as a threat to it too as it joined the war.

"We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action" against Iran, Rubio told reporters on Capitol Hill on Monday. "We knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces" by the Iranian regime.

"And we knew that if we didn't preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties ... And then we would all be here answering questions about why we knew that and didn't act," Rubio continued.
Rubio added later: "Obviously, we were aware of Israeli intentions and understood what that would mean for us, and we had to be prepared to act as a result of it. But this had to happen no matter what."
...I don't buy that because that's not what happened last time.

Have many more of the Iranian leadership been killed yet? Seems like it’s just the 47-49 or so that got taken out in the first wave.
Israel leveled the building where they were voting on the next leader, supposedly while they were tallying the vote. I think I read 88 people vote on it so you might have dozens more from that, assuming they a) voted in person and b) stuck around
EDIT: For what it's worth, Iran is saying those buildings weren't in use and no one was inside. Probably lying but time will tell
