The thing is that while there are a lot of Iranian people who hate the repressive Islamic regime, the Ayatollah still had support from a significant minority. Bombing the shit out of the country while they were essentially agreeing to demands is only going to increase their support.

Plus that minority are deranged Muslims who are happy to kill their enemies, and believe they’ll be rewarded with 72 virgins in Heaven for doing so. They still have an established structure, inside and outside Iran. Whereas the opposition have no organisation at all, and are not murderously minded.

This regime change - if even possible - is not going to be quick or easy.

I'd further highlight that it's not just support within Iran, the Ayatollah is a very, very senior religious leader in the Shia faith. Maybe not Pope level, but maybe... The assassination of him has turned this into a religious war for Shias everywhere. Iraq, for example, is more than 50% Shia. And it's not like they're fond of the USA. Much of the Middle East is some degree of US-backed Sunni minority presiding over a heavily Shia population. And it's grimly amusing how many of the anti-Muslim posters don't understand that most of the muslims they criticise in the West are in fact Sunni - Pakistani immigrants, Turkish-funded mosques, Saudi/UAE/Qatar political influence... The ignorance of the geo-political split on some people's part is crazy. They know it exists but in some vague "there are two groups" sense. But it's like aligning Russia and the USA because Christianity is the predominant religion in both. They don't understand the significance at all.

And you say "they should die too then" but the USA has far more leverage over Saudi or UAE that it does Iran and is fine with them. The Real Politik ones, the ones who say "hey, this is good for our arms industry" or "I'm Israeli and I want Netenyahu to win the election" or such can at least be debated with. But the moralisers? Someone upthread talked about the degree of binary thinking going on and he's right. It's running: "I have seen Leftists oppose this therefore I must be for it." and "my guy who is deporting illegal immigrants is for it therefore I must be."

I need that Tom and Jerry meme where Tom is searching everywhere for a Right Wing group that isn't super pro-Israel. Because this is a war on behalf of Israel, not the USA.

The number of miggers I’ve seen blaming Iran for terrorism is truly crazy. Iran is literally bombing the countries that fund radical Islam in the West.

The “terrorists” Iran funds are regional militias like Hamas and the Houthis, which are only a threat to gulf Arabs and Israelis.

the problem you've described is exacerbated by the general ideological capture Trumpism, which is a cult or personality and not a coherent worldview, has over much of the reactionary right. the moral arguments are completely incoherent in practice, both because every single condition listed has a hypocritical exception or an historical context that begs the question why the condition exists in the first place and because the US government itself can't even keep its justifications or objectives straight.

the moral arguments are primarily post hoc rationales for doing something with the appearance of toughness because the baseline trumptard is an impotent retard living vicariously through their increasingly pudding brained chicken hawk avatar, the whiplash of this sudden rush to morality is made all the more galling considering part of the initial appeal of trump was the total rejection of conventional Washington neocon morality as justification for governmental actions. they're even treating Marco Rubio with respect, which shows you the absolute depraved depths they're willing to plumb to justify the actions of their retarded figure of worship.
