Kuwait is using our gear, so I guess I can just be glad that our planes still seem to be invincible/invisible to everything Iran has.

The implication I'm seeing is that we might just be the only ones that can effectively shoot our planes down. That's still a pretty fucking rad place to be, at the end of the day.

IMO this is the danger of hanging out with too many hoi modders. A lot of that is due to the differences in the conflict. WW2 was a lot more heroic for Britain - for them WW1 was an avoidable conflict, and it was just a conveyor belt for feeding young British men into a meat grinder. They suffered half as many casualties in WW2 despite their war against Japan in the pacific. After retreating from France they fought a very clean very small war of movement in North Africa, otherwise mostly engaged with their Air Force and navy after that. Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, the North African campaign, Malta and the battle for the med, Slim's campaign against the Japanese. All of those were much more heroic battles that rewarded individual skill and bravery more than the somme or Ypres or whatever.

When they had to get slogging in the mud again in Normandy people got panicky fast and the morale of a lot of nor eh African veterans collapsed when it looked like it was turning into WW1 again. by August 1944 they had decided that was enough losses for us thanks and let the Americans do the dying while taking as much credit as possible.

What? How would we be using 155mm shells against Iran? Having F-22 pilots throw them out the window at Mach 2 like WW1 pilots dropping grenades? Or park some himars on our LCS and have them fire off the beach? I guess the 50 ATACMS could have been used. Our lack of stockpiles and affordable mass is a real problem tho, hopefully the Ukraine war and this experience will lead us to maintaining more manufacturing capacity and bigger stockpiles.
