I'm gonna be the contrarian here and say you guys are overreacting. Honestly, I don't really know why the "Animal Control" and "Internet Famous" boards existed, considering a lot of lolcows that would've fit those categories still had their threads posted on the standard "Lolcows" board back in the day. Also, as a longtime lurker of this thread, there were always tourists posting here about "Furries are the worst thing ever and should die", especially when a community feature submission made the front page. Yes it's annoying, but it's just something we have to deal with.

I just feel like this thread would become a Twitter furry drama thread.
 
At least when we had the Animal Control board, there was the "don't lament the fandom" rule, so regulars could tap the sign while looking angrily at the tourists.

What really killed this thread was the death of Twitter. Most furry drama took place on Twitter because everyone had an account there (including the kiwis which would watch them) and fights would break out constantly. Now we have pedosky and "X". Few kiwis want an account on the former because of how godawful it is and little drama happens on the latter compared to the old days. Both platforms are just people largely agreeing with each other and conflict rarely happens.

TLDR: the slow death of the public square has less gay retards fighting and screaming at each other. When it does happen, it's on an app no one uses.
 
Having different categorys have their own boards made finding content to read much more simple, the current system with tags works, but its way more of a cluster fuck. Also having things like furshit contained to there own board made it so certain users had their own little area to fuck around in, so it acted like containment, it was just a better system IMO.

Well furfags on pedosky can filter the comments and hear what they want to hear so they can live in their happy little bubble and tune reality out. They are actually just shutting themselves out from the world and slamming the door and communities die like that and that’s what we are witnessing. It’s truly a glorious thing. I mean there’s one guy I watch occasionally and he’s so far left all he does is scream and repost politics and I’m just like… nobody wants to hear that on blast. I can collect the posts but chunkings aka evil fucking skeleton DFEd once he was outed. It was pretty funny seeing people go from "he is a pillar of the community and so wholesome and supports a Black Queen" to "Hang that cheating white racist twink faggot" in a day.
 
To play the devil's advocate "furry #4567845 had a meltdown on discord" and "furry artist #343556 had a meltdown and DFE'd his twitter" are basically everyday occurrences these days, no one cares to archive furry drama anymore

A lot of the drama that stands out to me from recent years is all AI-related whining, and generally if you've seen one anti-ai meltdown, you've seen them all imo. I'm sure there're more insular Discords with interesting drama, but much like what's been said about Bluesky, I don't really think anyone one here would want to seek them out, let alone join them just for drama content.

There used to be a lot of household furry cows that all disappeared, either replaced by AI, ruining their reputation by using AI, or simply dying in the dilution of 50 new social medias appearing. "nah dawg i'm moving to mastodon!"

I mean, they kinda have a point, the more anthropomorphic something is, the less bad it is to fetishize, and the more bestial it is the worse it is to fetishize. They're not wrong. But the most anthropomorphic you get is another human. So all they're saying is they want humanoid animals to be fuckable, but only if they're above a certain anthropomorphism threshold that they arbitrarily define. Meanwhile, as long as it's fiction most normal people don't care (although they'll find it weird and gross). Normal people will care however the second you bring any of it to real life.

Tl;dr the only argument you can have for any of it is its fictional, because the moment any of it enters reality you're going to jail. This includes if IRL alien catgirls exist, fucking them will still be illegal. And a catgirl is objectively the least fucked up thing most of the internet loves to fetishize.
 
It reminds me of the debate regarding which pokemon are ethical to fuck. In the anime, a lot of pokemon are shown to have human level of intelligence, but are animal in shape and cannot speak human language. You could, for, ethically sleep with a Mewtwo because they're essentially a furry. But if you slept with Meowth from team rocket, it'd fall under the not okay umbrella despite him speaking human due to his shape. A lot of psychic types can learn telepathy, but if someone told me they wanted to fuck a Mr. Mime I'd be very worried because it's Mr Mime, what the fuck is wrong with you. An Alakazam, though, falls closer into furry territory.

This all really means nothing and is more of a weird thought experiment than anything.
