It's reprints of Ministry of Food leaflets from WWII. The leaflets are fascinating to look at and to read through, but there are some very good tips in there for stretching food and for making substitutes. I've cooked from 1940s rationing recipes before, and I'm excited to try some of these. Unsurprisingly, the recipes are heavy on the root vegetables and all things beige.

If you're interested in that sort of thing, this is a great site with a wealth of information. You can even print your own ration cards to use for shopping!

I bought 20x 20mm pot magnets off amazon because I had an idea, and then I bought 200 of them because I had a bigger idea, and then I bought 200 off alibaba, and the alibaba ones came first and then my idea changed a bit and I didn't need as many magnets, and then the amazon ones came and now I have nearly 200 magnets left over, which will be useful in case I have any more magnet-related ideas. Anyway, now my frying pans stick to my wall like I wanted.

I don't normally dip my toe into animation but I ordered a copy of Jin Roh today after I saw some animation from it I liked an the story sounded interesting (I'm a sucker for alt history), should be here by lunch tomorrow so I'm going to watch it tomorrow night.

looking ahead to future autistic purchases, I have a very basic nice ball point pen that you're supposed to replace the ink cartridge in that I got as a present
I'm sorta getting use out of it as a pen but I feel like there's probably an aftermarket for crazy shit to put in the ink's place like a laser pointer or a tiny screwdriver or whatever
do such things exist? is there a general term for it so I can easily search on ebay instead of "yknow like, a ink cartridge thingy but it's a laser or some shit"

As a EDC and Stationary / Pen guy I've not seen anything apart from a few Hidden shiv things that are useless and most of them where DIY, but you can have fun with cartridges depending on how popular yours is I've got a Prometheus Lights mk1 Titanium that takes Mont Blanc cartridge fineliners that people are making interesting versions of I've seen one that's a sharpie ink but refillable (uses the superior Edding Ink), if you post the pen an cartridge I'll look up whats available for you if you want but it might be a few days.

I've got some serious work going on in the forge the next few days.

As a tool wielding professional and all around autist - I approve of the brand. Can't ID the model but that's a very nice.

I did order about 20 of the batteries (I know a place that does Bulk only orders an me an a few guys did a massive order between us), one thing I have notice is with the newer batteries they do not like the Reciprocating saws, I know they are a lossy tool when it comes to battery drain but these seem to be flattening in half the time but they are staying cooler I wonder if it's some new battery saver mode on stuff that's high load.

I've got a WW2 copy of "Wild foods of England" and love it you can find copys online if you fancy a gander, the one I have is Wartime Economy so the illustrations are B&W but they wonderful and I've seen post war copies that are full colour and if I could find one I'd snap it up but it only had a few small printings post war an stopped at 1950 as far as I am aware.

I do have an original 1981 Protect an Survive leaflet and some reprints of other simmilar stuff from the cold war, really interesting to see just how basic education has decayed over time.

Take them to a power tool repair shop and ask them to check if the battery is legitimate. Or if you feel confident in doing it yourself crack open the ones that seem to be going flat and check the cells for a brand name. Fakes have been flooding the market recently.

5.11 had a sale last week and I recently purchased a very small pistol caliber carbine, so I bought a LVC12 along with some mag pouches and other velcro stuff to set up a bag for the new toy:



There's also a complete first aid setup, firearm maintenance stuff and general purpose shit packed in there. I have this weird thing where I like to have different bags/packs for different purposes so I can grab a bag and go, whether it's my work bag, the bag I keep my TTRPG/wargaming shit in, my range bag or any of the other ones I have stuffed in my closet.

There are most likely legit we got them from a known makita supplier, but I will check because shit happens but its odd that it only does it with the reciprocating saw.

I didn't intend to do this but today I managed to get my hands on a bunch of various grades of tool steel in odd shapes an sizes but all of them labelled - got delivered too so I didn't even have to leave the workshop.

I'm planning on making a bunch of Files soon for a special project I have coming up that will be really useful but not essential but it's a good way for teaching the apprentice how to cut files an train his hand a bit more as he's still learning proper striking techniques especially on more detailed work and this will let him practice lighter blows that have to be consistent an controlled.
