I can’t stand the hug hello or the kiss hello. My in-laws do it and I’ve made it clear that I don’t like it, and yet it is still inflicted on me. I hate it from friends too. Basically any body other than my husband, I hate it.

Where do we go from here? Do you hate it too or are you a menace to society?

I don’t mind the hug hello or goodbye. No issues with that. Don’t do the kiss hello or goodbye unless it’s someone I’m in a relationship with.

Overtly performative gestures are generally gay and fake, and the people I surround myself know that only special occasions allow for these hugs like not seeing them in 10 years or marriage.
Kisses are weird though, it's just grandmas who do them.

Hate the kiss, but I'm that guy who goes for a bro hug when I dap someone up and who grabs the forearm or shoulder when I shake hands. Only with men though. Maybe I'm gay.
Dap hugs are cool. If you think it's gay then you lost.

If I really know you, a hug hello is fine. Otherwise, a firm handshake displays our mutual friendship, just fine. Maybe with a dap added in for middle ground.
