I would hardly call taking over the entire world, every social and political institution, and all of media, forcing every bit of their agenda down everyone's throat for decades despite it's unpopularity, and bringing White people to the brink of extinction as "failing at everything".
They can't be discounted that much. The biggest issue of the modern American left seems to be pushing too much, too fast. For a long time their march through the institutions and advancing their goals from the top-down was rather successful.
