One of his biggest problems with not wanting to play games is he literally has nothing else to talk about. He doesn't leave the house. I think he thinks that he's so interesting that he can carry a show without the game as a background to begging, despite all evidence to the contrary. I mean he does Q & Beg every single day, basically asking his audience to make the content.

He sees that he makes more money on the pahdcast, he hates gaming, he loves leaning on the parasocial "let's just hang out" schtick, he just doesn't do anything outside streaming he could talk about to fill the space around the begging.
Phil has never had normal friendships. If he had he’d know that when people hang out they typically don’t discuss what one of those people are doing in the current moment to the exclusion of literally all other topics.

Phil, friends usually talk about things like what they’re doing come the weekend (you don’t do anything), new things they found or experienced (you hate novelty in all its forms), their opinions on both current events and deeper concepts (you are a willfully ignorant retard who’s rightfully afraid of getting laughed at for your stupid views). You have a staggering amount of work to do socially to come off as being capable of even conceiving of a friendship, and your chances are dwindling by the day. When “friendless loser” is codified, your portrait will be right beside those of sterling company such as Randy Stair and Adam Lanza

Bro what was DunceFelter doing last night?

Phil needed to spend 100$ so we could learn that the remake of a console that is notorious for being a piece of shit... is a piece of shit.

I bet even the nintentards know that this is a cashgrab LMAO

I can already tell that I'm going to come back to the Wings call a few times a year, it's a piece of art. People who don't follow Phil won't understand why it's funny, but experiencing the difference between his falsely confident on-stream persona and his actual meek, sobbing faggot self is incredible, he's like a gay little goblin. And Kat mogging him is just the icing on the cake. Chef's kiss.
I consider that call his, if we're using Howard Stern as a reference, the time Baba Booey made that vhs tape to his ex girlfriend.

I bet even the nintentards know that this is a cashgrab LMAO
Oh you mean those stupid fanboys that just buy everything that Nintendo puts out and never holds them accountable for them pumping out slop??? Those idiots that bought all those Amiibos???

Hey how many of the last Nintendo games/products has Phil bought?
I think he banned every new sub supposing it's a sock account form detractors.win, Phil had a rough early stream because of Kick chat and I think he gave him strict instructions to ban on sight every new Kick sub.
Ahh okay. It's a Snort Korea border enforcement plan. Well I, for one, appreciate the work DunceFelter is doing for our King in keeping his delusional reality going. It makes the crashouts better when he gets cognitive dissonance upon discovering actual reality. He is an odd case though. DunceFelter as a name tells me he's a Kino larper, but he sure seems to have fallen to pignosis. Maybe banning people makes his little willie hard.

I was thinking about Phil playing FFVII Rebirth again. He mentioned a few days ago that he had thought it was a great game and that he would want to play it if there was interest. Which is hilarious, considering how much he hated the game when he quit it, mostly because it didn't make money like he wanted, so of course, he found things to complain about.

No one understands Compilation of Final Fantasy VII less than Phil Burnell. Still, I wish he would double down and play it over Dragon Quest because this DQ7 remaster is a Peppa Pig voice acting-ass baby game in Phil's hands, and it makes me wanna fucking kill myself.

FFVII is another one of those games/series that falls in this unfortunate category for Phil. He has this weird gatekeeping logic he whips out for when he doesn't like change in a series, even when he's completely fucking wrong.
Resident Evil has not revolved around Raccoon City and the T-Virus since RE3/1998 in that series' timeline. The city was nuked. The T-Virus was not the sole viral bioweapon affecting Raccoon City. Zombies have never been the sole primary enemy of Resident Evil, and were instead part of a category of weaker mobs that are replaced with harder enemies/variants as the games progress.
This is mostly about his views on Silent Hill f, but that game takes place in a town called Ebisugaoka, which means "silent hill". Silent Hill has also not strictly taken place in Silent Hill since Silent Hill 3. Many factors affect this, including cult influence/connection, distribution of hallucinogenic drug White Claudia, and occult rituals that are performed/being performed that warp reality in a similar manner to what was found in Silent Hill.

The original phenomenon that happened in Silent Hill 1 was the town warping because of a comatose child burn victim's unstable powers giving her nightmares shape. Nothing Henry Mason saw was an extension of himself---it was all a ritualistic look into the psyche of a metaphysically incomplete little girl raised to be sacrificed by a cult, among other themes. All this to say, between the games and other media (especially the comics), Silent Hill is a lot of things, which allows for a lot of leeway. Sometimes it's a Jacob's Ladder sort of experience. Sometimes it's less solipsistic, with more clear external influences shaping it. Both make for interesting stories.

With the Remake continuity games---or any of the rest of the Compilation games, like Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus or even fucking Ever Crisis---I have no idea what would make them more "Final Fantasy VII" to him.

Is it not Final Fantasy VII if Cloud does silly things? He did silly, dorky shit in the original title.

Is it not Final Fantasy VII unless Aerith says, "This guy are sick"?

Is it not Final Fantasy VII if you don't select between "Hit", "Miss", and "Yeah!" on Tifa's slots for her Limit Break?

The answers to these questions ultimately don't matter, because Phil doesn't care. He's never liked FFVII as much as VI or IV. He's said as much. Watch the TIHYDP of him playing FFVI if you want to feel like you're going insane from him humming along and singing constantly. Also, he sucks dick at that game despite loving it so much.

Back to FFVII. One of my biggest nags, and among his most consistent topics of conversation around the game, is his opinion on Cloud Strife. He doesn't understand Cloud after playing dozens of hours as this character, and seeing his story resolved in at least one full game. He just thinks Cloud is "emo" and trying to be cool.

Cloud is, in short, a brain-fried planet juice MK Ultra victim who had to recobble himself together from memories of his buddy after being rendered retarded by science and Sephiroth cells (skin flakes or hair or whatever from his amputated legs recovered from mako storage pumps in Nibelheim). All things considered, he could be a lot worse off. If anything, he's lucky to have had someone like Zack as a template for when he was catatonic, and you would especially be aware of that if you played Crisis Core. Zack is a genuinely great guy, and dragged a retarded, catatonic Cloud Strife with him all the way to Midgar until he died. He fed him, he wiped his ass, he was a bro par excellence.

Cloud is not Zack, though, so any attempt to emulate his confidence and charisma falls short, even though he fully believes this is part of his own personality. He fumbles, he rubs people the wrong way, and it's probably really fucking confusing for him. He is, inescapably, a dork.

On top of recovering from being a vegetable, he was in a tube for four years. He's still thinking like a teenager for a lot of the game. As you play, you have to watch him grow out of this shit and embrace that he's a man, and he's himself now, whatever that means. That's part of what makes the story compelling, if you actually care about it. In order to win, the player helps Cloud answer the question, "Does Cloud Strife still exist, even with everything about himself changed?" Whatever the answer is, it has to be enough for him to whip Sephiroth's ass with Omnislash in the end.

That's why the responses he can give are so polarizingly different at times in the OG: you're not picking "fun" or "cool" reactions to things. You're picking whether Cloud acts more like himself or like Zack, whose personality he has sublimated to keep himself from falling apart. He's a mess. Rebirth does an especially good job of illustrating the complexities of this without misrepresentation or melodrama. It can otherwise be so easy to misinterpret text and localization, and the latter is part of what made FFVII so broadly incomprehensible for years.

Rebirth is a really great game, especially if you're familiar with the OG FFVII and other Compilation titles. It is a terrible game, however, for someone like Phil, who doesn't actually care about the characters and setting, thinks there are too many mini-games, and doesn't like that the combat isn't strictly turn-based, even though you can do "Classic mode" for ATB usage that is more like the original game.

Rebirth also goes to painstaking lengths to get you to care about it, outside of just going through dungeons and overworld combat encounters. That's why you play mini-games (Queen's Blood and the chocobo races at the Gold Saucer are especially fun), you do all kinds of stuff to make memories with all these characters. You finish out the codex entries because you like Chadley and wanna learn more about the world. Everything weaves together to make a tableau that depicts every reason to keep Sephiroth from using an orbital Chaos Dunk on Midgar. It's not just about GAY420GAY avenging COOLRANCH getting slam-dunked in the City of the Ancients, or getting to bang Tifa under the Highwind if you choose the right dialogue options. You have to justify this inevitably damned world so you can try to save it today.

Memories are essential to the foundations of life on the planet FFVII takes place on. In Remake and Rebirth especially, the games are all about this. Memories, reunions, synchronicity, free will, whether fate can be changed or rejected entirely, all that stuff. It's a deeply sentimental thing. You have to look at everything as interwoven and significant in order for the world to make sense. Otherwise, it just devolves into a wall of Kingdom Hearts meme retardation about friendship and darkness and whatever.

If you try to engage with the game while being unable to care, you make the same mistakes as Cloud at the beginning of FFVII, trying to act cool because you think that's what will get you through everything, and that's what everyone expects from you. Phil really isn't so different from a kinda retarded MK Ultra brain-baby in this way, except he's a pussy who can't swing a sword.

The point is this, in relation to Rebirth: games that really ask you to feel things and care about what's happening are anathema to Phil. He is allergic to sentiment as well as making inferences based on context clues, and has had Pink Floyd's "Waiting for the Worms' blaring in his ears on repeat for nearly 20 years at this point, so he wouldn't get any of this.

He might come across this post, conjure up the will to skim it, and sublimate some of the critique incorrectly as his own ideas, like he does every time he reads about video games, so he sounds like he has an informed opinion. But ultimately, he feels more when a stupid-ass monkey in Rimworld needs medical attention, or his bird dies in Minecraft.

He's always wrong about games. Even when he's right, he's wrong. You could probably create something similar to the Inverse Cramer index for Phil and make mad bank on bets related to the gaming industry. He has no basis through which he can find himself because there is no self for Phil. His soul's been scooped out by a melon baller after cranking the hog to Lexington Steele one too many times.

So fuck you, Phil. Stop being a slave to pretense. Try feeling something that isn't lust for money, peanut butter complexioned black men, or fast food, you saggy-titted fuck! Who gives a fuck what you think a game is or isn't, when you could just play the games and actually care about them?

Whilst I'm sure most of them are socks or trolls, it is funny to think that at least a handful of people would subscribe to check Phil out, and get instantly banned.

I still think to this day that his whole "I prefer FFVI" stance is just him being his usual contrarian self, as when he was a teen, FFVII was at the peak of it's popularity all the while edgelord Phil was just dressing himself as the punisher and doing other edgelord things.

Does he genuinely prefer it ? definitely no, his main argument is 6 being more serious than 7 (which is wrong, both have silly and serious parts).
Everyone has a favourite FF title and it's fine being more impacted by a title's theme over another but as usual Phil is being Phil and he acts like everyone is wrong and personally insulted him for liking FF7 over 6 all the while being unable to really understand 7 deeply just like you said.

If you were to ask him about what FF6 is generally about, I doubt he'd be able to summarise it.
(and I'm being generous, as it's clear he can't summarise the story)

This new grift of telling people to support game X while he's playing game Y is probably the biggest indication to me that things aren't going as well for him as he'd like. It flies in the face of the "if I don't get money while I play X it means people must hate the game so I'll stop playing it" system he's cultivated for years and years. You can hear it in his voice how upset he gets when someone says they'll support when he plays a game they actually like despite it being his fault that his audience behaves that way.

The trolls are gangstalking Phil

clip_01KHN00XVN3C89T0895QSHRYZQ.mp4Phil crashes out on Buckwell and you're a poor idiot for buying Nintendo products.

There is something funny that Phil thinks all hate towards him is manufactured and doesn't happen organically. I'm pretty sure if you polled KF for reasons they laugh at Phil or dislike him, you'd get at least 5 different ones. Phil's unique in that there isn't a consensus of why he gets trolled, everybody has a different reason. He's that much of an asshole that people from all walks of life can find something about him they dislike.

Bro what was DunceFelter doing last night?
Dunce Felter is a really weird specimen. He's constantly borderline or outright sneak dissing in the Kick chat. There was a point Phil unmodded him early in the Kick era because, I believe, Dunce Felter was in the chat but didn't moderate at all while Kino Casino raided him (when the breakup was just happening). Like he blatantly allowed a bunch of trolls to spam and harass the chat that night and was excommunicated for it.

Now he's back and seems to be slavishly dedicated to sweeping Kick chat at all hours, just absolutely turning on the ovens.

He's become one of the most pathetic side characters in the Snortex lately.

DunceFelter also does unban appeals on his channel. If you go into his channel, you can see him tagging banned people saying "X you're unbanned, don't do Y again even if it was funny".

Phil would probably flip his shit if he knew, but he has so few mods that the bar is pretty low.

I played and beat FFI-VII for the first time in my life in a span of the past 6 months, and personally out of all of them I find V to be the best overall but going on some faggy ass tirade about how this game or that game in the series is overrated is retarded, especially as each of the classic titles has their own strengths, so I'm not surprised if someone's favorite is another one.

I've often wondered if DSP considers us  all detractors and are equals in trolling and detractordom.  What I mean by that is. Those of us who only post on here, chat in any of the handful resteamers and those who tweet about him on X. Where as you have RawDSP who restreams, beats his ass in SF6, and the Snort Hogans etc. Does DSP look at us as all the same no matter how miniscule of a direct or indirect interaction we have with him?

It's not resident evil when it's not in raccoon city!
Dave is actually one of the ten people in existence who wholeheartedly welcomes Resident Evil 6 with open arms and had an omega rant on people that hated it for being different unless he decided to rewrite history in the past few years when I wasn't looking, which makes his Silent Hill F hate even more unhinged and makes me think it's tied to his eternal hatred towards the Japanese. Upcoming Silent Hill game won't take place in Silent Hill and will probably have its own silly quirks, but he won't care because it takes place in Scotland where they don't speak ching chongese.

You want the short answers for the basis of 6 and 7? 6 is ripping off Miyazaki with mans hubris of exploiting magic shit with a female main character and 7 is ripping off Evangelion with it's magic angel-aliens and mans futility to stop them because they didn't realize the had the power to go home to Kansas all along no wait that last part is Wizard of Oz.
