I’m Japanese, and I live in Japan. Here, nothing trans related is covered by insurance. Not even HRT.
And this country treats non-passing trans women like freaks.
If you don’t pass, nobody will treat you seriously as a woman and nobody will hire you.
Some of us need FFS to pass, so the fact that it’s so inaccessible here essentially is genocidal.
They’re essentially paywalling human rights for people like me.
I either continue to exist as a man (which to me is to live as a zombie), I socially transition despite looking like a man and I suffer social/financial death, or I just end my own life.
Either way, it’s death.

The fact that you need bottom surgery in the first place to legally transition is literally genocide.

SRS prevents you from having children. This is a cost we often have to pay, when choosing to have it. And many of us, including me, would rather adopt children than have our own.

But being forced to have SRS to transition, no matter if you it want or not, is involuntary sterilization of a social group. And that is literally one of the acts defining a genocide, as it has the goal of eradicating said group (by preventing them to have children or forcing them to endure the mental torture of not transitioning, Article 2 d) and 2 b) of the genocide convention).

The reasons why it isn’t called a genocide are: 1) bullshit legal reasons (we are no ethnic, racial, religious or national group, which is currently required. But don’t worry, genocide scholars are literally currently debating the definition of genocide, because they view how many countries treat trans* people, especially the US, as genocidal); And 2) transphobia, cuz most people still think it is a choice to be trans* or that the medical care we need are cosmetic procedures or just openly deny we exist (last one can be called complicity in the genocide)

Singaporean here, nothing is covered by insurance. On top of that AMAB’s have mandatory military service so that’s fun too, nothing beats ruining your body like military training.

But we make do, I pay close to 1k usd every 3-4 months for my HRT and I just paid for my orchi out of pocket as well.

It might take longer but eventually we will get there! Don’t give up!!

Calling it now, we're gonna see a lot more posts complaining about insanely painful consequences to obviously retarded surgeries and insurance companies refusing to cover them. How many followup procedures and treatments are going to be needed to partially recover from this? It's gonna take at least several months to recover from this, possibly never, so I doubt employer provided healthcare is even going to consider it.

this may be an unpopular opinion but in my honest opinion, if somebody specifically asks if they pass and they clearly do not, do not say yes. it gives them false hope and can leads to dangerous situations.

there’s a trend on tiktok of trans mascs going “what gives it away” (talking about passing) and the comments are filled with people gojng “tell what?” “i didn’t even realise”, on posts where they do not pass one bit. like cut the bs just help this person who clearly wants to pass better.

you are truely a horrible person if you lie to these people, you need to be honest and help them with tips (if they ask for some). its going to suck and feel horrible but lying will be worse.

but i do have to reiterate that if this person doesn’t ask, you CANNOT just go around telling them they don’t pass or give them tips with no prompt to. it’s even more horrid

Honestly, as a POC, I think people are too obsessed with passing. It’s dependent on so many things. Advice I’ve gotten on passing from white dudes is useless to me, a brown Latino. In my culture I’m perfectly masculine, but read as effeminate by American white men.

Like it depends. It depends. I don’t like this question and I refuse to answer it when people ask because 99.9% I lack context. To who? Based on what? Where? In what language? What culture?

My cis friends seem so confused every time I ask anymore, because although I pass for sure now, I still get read as gay, so I always ask "Hey, do I pass enough today? Gotta use the restroom." And besides them genuinely just trying to be nice when they answer yes, they always add some sort of "You are valid in who you are and how you dress, don't let anyone get you down" and while I do appreciate that my friends wanna hype me up GIRL I NEED TO PEE AND VALIDATION ISNT GONNA GET ME IN A STALL!

Once they realize it's a safety thing, they do answer honestly, but they do still add something as if it's a matter of me being insecure. Idk, it's weird. Cis ppl sometimes assume it's a validity thing 100% of the time.

There's no way to win. It's a retarded question and you're put in a losing position no matter what you answer. Japan is such an interesting case as they have had a lot of crossdressing characters. From what little I've gleaned from the tranime, if they really believe they're women they're treated as a huge joke. If they are traps, it was, at least in most cases, a crossdresser who was comfy being male. This was previously though, I have heard a few have come out now though that try to push the western treatment of troons.

I wonder if its specifically the men that learn to read English well that are getting their brains tainted by globohomo in order to believe "I am a troo and honest wahman and not a punchline!!"

Since my generation, there has been a MAJOR handwriting revolution difference. I was born in the late 80s BTW. But I can instantly tell a difference in female and male AND generational differences just because of the handwriting. One guy at work writes his 9's from the top and like literally all the other guys start their letters from the bottom. Meanwhile I'm writing in cursive and the guys bitch at me 'I really can not read your handwriting'. Me:read it or die.
I can instantly tell a male or female even 50 years ago. There is some weird fucking thing about men being left handed and red\green colour blind and women being right handed (the left hand is the devil!) and more colour attuned.
It's so fucking wild. 40-50 years ago when females were allowed\taught to write, the handwriting is so completely different every single generation. My mom had similar handwriting to her mother. stepdad and dad had similar handwriting to each other even being 2 years away from each other. My brother and I had completely different handwriting even though we were in the same house and he was a complete fucking faggot.

Handwriting is such an autistic focus to me. I love being able to tell men vs women and BE RIGHT just from writing. Like how people who write to the right are like fucking unstable. I'm right every time.

OMFG it's a confluence of my pet peeves.

1) People taking a photo of a handwritten document and sharing that like what they've written is so important I should be willing and grateful to pinch zoom and scroll left and right and up and down to read it

2) People with bullshit fucking handwriting that even if what they were revealing was how to turn base metals into gold I'd take ten seconds to say 'nope, not worth it'

3) And is it turns out, pooners not only can't paragraph in their public writing, they can't paragraph in their private writing either. I was taught in Year 3 how and when to start a new paragraph. There is no paper shortage, fucknuckle. This isn't the Civil War where you started writing between the lines and in the margins of previous letters.
