Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.

But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:

Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

Went to public elementary school in Portland and one day we had something called a "refugee simulator" (yes really) where we spent an entire school day in the gymnasium standing in drawn circles representing borders serving our teachers and we were served a tiny bowl of rice for lunch instead of our normal food to simulate the diet of someone living in poverty. It was supposed to be like a "day in the life" of living in a shitty third world country but it just felt like the teachers taking advantage of us and getting us to do free labor around the school like cleaning and taking out trash.
We had to do the same thing and I grew up 5000 miles away from Portland. But we had horrible hippie teachers.

I just wish they made the shithead kids clean the campus. They used to. Now the schools in my area are garbage dumps because the groundskeeping budget only pays for bin pickup AND shithead kids never have a consequence for shitting up the schools in the first place.

The reason given in this lilly white district? Racism.

Portlanders blame klansmen Boogeymen for everything wrong with Portland lol

What the actual fuck? I have a few friends who are still in Portland Beaverton and Milwaukee with daughters.. they tried to groom both of them, one is a pooner, the other managed not to get sucked in 🤞. Before I left, I had a friend who was trooning out, I think he was gay, and a troll, but I'm pretty sure he 41% himself. Back to my original thought, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON IN PORTLAND?!?!
The better and easier life is, the more feminized a culture becomes. I think that Portland's government and courts are majority female now. Welcome to the death spiral. It's gonna end in flames.

I have been to Portland exactly one (1) time where I actually stopped to do anything. My experience of Portland was being followed by a weird autistic veteran twice my age trying to hit on me, then being shat on by a pigeon while resting on a bench, then realizing I had my car stolen from when I returned to it. I was told by a local Portlander before arriving in the city to not leave anything stealable in my car and also to LEAVE THE DOORS UNLOCKED because the chance someone would break in to steal from it was so high, and they didn't want my windows broken. I took almost everything out of my car, everything I thought a druggie would try to pawn, but for some reason they STOLE MY GODDAMN USB STICK FULL OF ALL MY MUSIC. (This was a decade ago.) Why they felt compelled to steal my music, I have no idea; it was plugged into my car so it's not like they would think it has documents or passwords on it or anything. It had over 800 songs, many of which are rare/unusual, to the point that you can't even find them online or they have 200 views on a YouTube video uploaded 12 years ago. There is no way in hell I could ever remember everything I had on there, so some of it's gone forever. Possibly the worst part? I have a really eclectic taste in music, I will listen to literally everything, from christian rock to deathmetal screamo, electro swing, rock, techno, classical, instrumental, rap, throat singing, Gregorian chant, you name it. The WORST part is, whatever asshole stole it probaby listened to one song, said "what the fuck is this garbage", and threw it away.

FUCK PORTLAND

Also, re:firework tards, I don't know how people so obsessed with their dogs can be so fucking oblivious about how they feel and what they actually need. Dogs get nervous primarily if 1) they think they're in charge or don't know who is, AND 2) they feel there is an unfamiliar threat that they, subsequently, need to handle because no one else is going to. I have a neurotic dog who is afraid of loud booms (he at least has an excuse, his previous owner was murdered with a gun), you know what I do for him? When we launch our own fireworks he either gets put on a leash and hangs out with us so we can comfort and desensitize him, or if we're doing big fireworks/he's too nervous or jittery he gets locked in the bathroom (his safe space for some reason) with a blanket. When we're done he gets extra love and we move his bed right up to ours so he can be next to us overnight, and he's absolutely fine. You know what I've never done? Complain about literally one night a year when I have a ton of time in advance to prepare for people celebrating their love of our nation (or taking advantage of a socially acceptable time to light explosives on fire).

Should i move to portland? Got a pretty good job offer and i am ruminating on going there. Based on what i see on tv(lol) its a shit hole with annoying people, but i have learned repeatedly not to depend on media entirely.

Portlandsissies....... response?

There's some nice suburbs, but it's not worth it. Cost of living is .. well a scam. You can't get a studio apartment for less than then $2k, So unless you have perdium it's a net loss. Which is a shame because there's a lot of beautiful country around Portland.

Cost of living is absolutely insane. Unless that job is more than $100k a year salary you won't even be able to afford anything. You would live in an apartment or townhouse for $2,500 a month, probably in a part of town full of drugs and crazies. What I would actually suggest, if the job is indeed pretty good, is that you look into the areas AROUND Portland, about 30-60 minute commute. Yes, it's a long drive, but you won't be living in (as much) shit, the rent is much better ($1,700 to rent a whole house, depending on exactly where), and the people are much nicer to deal with.

The main downsides of Portland living are the people and the price... if you don't have to deal with the people and you can actually afford it, then it's ok. Keep in mind that if you want to buy an actual house in Portland, that's gonna cost you $700k minimum for something that doesn't have a fentanyl zombie lawn ornament every morning. The surrounding area is beautiful, it has a wonderful climate, lots of nature, rivers and creeks, only a couple hours from the ocean, with huge swathes of natural forest and some good campgrounds/hiking/mountain climbing areas. The yuppies moved here for a reason. Cops are all kind of assholes though, I would guess they're a bit jaded because of local politics. Just don't get pulled over, or if you do, be polite - it tends to surprise them, which is a bit sad.

Depends, are you coming from anywhere besides California or Seattle? Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos! Are you coming from California or Seattle? Beat it, scumbag, we don't need any more of your kind here.:jaceknife:

How are you with pretending to be a SJW? Because if you can't at least smile, nod, and change the subject, you're going to have a really hard time making friends here. Recently I was chatting with some rando while we were both waiting for coffee, and when I left he gave me an anti-ICE observer whistle he had proudly 3D printed himself, and I had to fight to keep my face neutral lol.

Actually, even if you're a true-blue believer, I don't know how newcomers make friends (unless they're trannies and can roll up to Sanctuary and say "I'm new in town" and can instantly have a polycule). Maybe if you're a naturally affable person, it comes easy, but if you struggle making friends where you're at now, it's going to be a lonely road in Portland.

My experience of Portland, having lived there and given up three times, is that it's very, very unfriendly. You pretty much have to join a club of some kind (ex: the Mazamas or a Stitch 'n Bitch) to meet anybody, and even then, the odds are good but the goods are odd. There's also a weird worship of people descended from the founding families, people like the Robertses and the Frohnmeyers, those types.

If you have children, it's a fucking nightmare. Enjoy being surrounded by eco freaks smugging it up, giving you the death stare at the grocery store, and letting doors slam on your kids/stroller.

Also, fentanyl zombies.

It's really sad. Back in the day, and I mean DECADES ago at this point, Portland was still unfriendly but there was a lot to do and it wasn't a bad city to live in for the not-rich. You could go someplace like the Bagdad for a second-run movie, a pretty darn good slice, and a beer for like five bucks. The close-in neighborhoods like Hawthorne were still affordable for normies. Now--unless you're rich or you've got a tech salary or you're a Boomer who got theirs back in the '80s--any place that a normal person might be able to afford to live is a hellscape.

Also, do you like being rained on from September until the 4th of July? Because there's that, too.

There's a curious quality in the city, it's not even that people are aggressive about being progressive, it's that they just assume everyone else thinks the same way they do. It's wild, it did not used to be this way, I can only assume that Californians are to blame for shitting the place up with a gorillion hipsters who all came to Portland to be with other proggy hipster queers and ended up manifesting that reality. The end result is that some parts of Portland are 100% like you'd expect, literally a stereotype come to life, but thankfully much of the metro area is just normal people with bad politics. Most people aren't obnoxious about it, but there's this strange tendency especially to just bring shit up out of nowhere, like in some unrelated conversation some sperg will roll his eyes and bring up Elon Musk. Depending on your hobbies between 5% and 25% of the people around you are going to be some flavor of troon, if you find a basedboy hangout club without any please let me know where it is.

The east side is basically a shithole full of hipsters and junkies, the west side is nice but it's full of yuppies and a vibrant Jewish community and you can't afford to live there anyway. Out farther west is all illegal Mexicans, Lake No-Negro is cute if you can swing decent rent there, downtown is relatively safe like you're not going to get stabbed probably but it's full of homeless junkies and a real eyesore and your car might get broken into. The city government is retarded and taxes are high, so watch out for that, every new measure that gets passed is funded with property taxes and there's rent control that forbids rent from going up more than 10% a year, so every apartment complex just increases it 10% a year. Even the dive bars have a dozen beers on tap, if that's your thing, but half of them are IPAs.

Also, people in the PNW and Portland especially are... indirect, for lack of a better term? Walking down the street you don't make eye contact with strangers, it's not weird to strike up conversation with people but it's pretty uncommon, so it's not very likely that standing in line at the store someone is going to go "man FUCK donald trump am i right???" It's a city with a lot of retards, but it's also very easy to ignore all of them for the most part.

Also if you're an attractive person you should move here, like half of everyone is a fat soyboy or ugly shaved head they/them with a septum piercing, don't leave me alone with these uggos.

Don't agree with you on east Portland. This is an oversimplification. While it does have plenty of hipsters and drug addicts some of the best neighborhoods in the city are on the east side. Irvington, Laurelhurst, Alameda, Grant Park, Tabor, Reed... I could go on and on. The east side is filled with super nice early 1900s homes that are well kept up, is fairly low crime and very white. You also don't have the insane riot bullshit that goes on downtown on the westside since it's far more residential. As long as you are 25+ blocks from the river and west of 82nd southeast is good. If you HAVE to live in Portland the east side is the best place to live imo.

Fair point, my mind usually just glosses over everything from the industrial strip near OMSI over to Gresham, but I always forget about Tabor and other places that have nice little neighborhoods, parks, local shops, and are remarkably insulated from drifters. I guess it's more accurate to say that anything within like 25 blocks of the river on either side is a no-go zone, and then once you go too far in either direction you're in Gresham or Beaverton and get to contend with poor people or Mexicans. It's kind of like the bands of visible light, there's a sweet spot.

This is pretty accurate yeah. If you're too west on the east side of Portland near the Willamette you get the zombified tweakers smashing out your car windows and too far out east and you're in a Hispanic ghetto like Hazelwood or Gresham. But you go about 30 blocks into the east side and you've got a 80%+ white area with nice old homes and low crime. You will of course deal with the most aggressive and insufferable liberals you have ever met in your life but that's par for the course in the city.

Portland is where you get sent when you die in a state of extreme sin, so commit extreme crimes and then shoot yourself. You'll wake up in Portland.

Anywhere downtown is genuinely unnerving. It's not a warzone (most of the time), but the ratio of obvious junkies to people with jobs and responsibilities walking on the street is way out of whack with even cursory observation.

Also ask yourself if your job's location and time in the office requirements would make living across the river in Vancouver WA worth the traffic fights of getting across the river to the job. Allegedly this is what Portland cops all do. At this point neither state is brilliant about guns (WA is worse now, but OR is within months of following suit if I recall), gas is typically cheaper in Oregon, Oregon has no sales tax, but Washington has no income tax. Washington also has no vehicle emissions testing or uh...any standards at all at this point...so if you like weird cars that may be helpful.

Fun fact: downtown is so nasty and unsafe there are record high levels of vacancy in several districts down there. This article from Willamette Weekly (our local super pozzed newspaper) blames high taxes while not using the word crime once.
