I kind of see Studs posts as like a leftist teenager learning about the real world for the first time- The stuff he says is never actually offensive, just maybe ignorant of reality. If he stays here long enough no amount of ear closing can keep him from seeing truths. It's in his heart, and it's okay to accept things as they are. In a sane world having mandatory ID to participate in the voting process would've been enacted decades, if not a full century, ago.
Never heard of them, and nobody else has. Pre-phone polls are mattering less and less and have always been pushing. Markets now push results in gambling. Nobody wants to support a loser and it the in charges push just a put, it'll cascade into irl NPC voters.

And it's not just 3rd world - I think people in America just underestimate how good it is here. Throughout the entire 90s I produced and worked on a lot of anime and j-pop stuff. Sony Japan would send a lot of potential artists to live with me for a few months while I produced their demos. So for a few years I had a steady stream of 17-18 year old japanese girl singers crashing in my spare bedroom. When we weren't working on music, I'd take them out to show them around because for most of them this was their first time outside of Japan and pretty much all of them were in awe of the food situation here. They'd take photos of the supermarkets. They would make lists of all the stuff they wanted to try. They were amazed how cheap the food was and how big the portions were and how much meat the meals contained. They would be in awe of something as simple as a pastrami sandwich and take photos of it lol.
I watched something ages ago - I wish I could remember the name or even find the video, but it was a video showing a man a woman wearing these brain scan things that show a live heatmap of the brain. It had one for the chick and one for the guy and it showed them having a conversation with each other and the heatmaps were showing that completely different regions of the brain were lighting up in each of them. It basically showed that when a man and woman are having a conversation about the same thing, completely different parts of their brains are operating and interpreting things. They're not even on the same page when talking about the same thing.
