Interesting news from The Hill: Gallup will no longer measure presidential approval after 88 years (archive).

The article itself is not very illuminating, but I think the main reasons are that Gallup wants to do longer-term studies, and also because the research they did for shorter-term surveys started getting more expensive. Trump hasn't cut any funding for Gallup, but it's possible that ending slush funds like USAID contributed to this.

Texts don't count unless it ended up being a legit survey. I got a phone survey once and they take about 10-15 minutes. Mail-in surveys are obvious, but expensive.
