Arizona investigators probing the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, “TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, said Monday they believe she was taken from her home against her will.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously described Guthrie’s home as a “crime scene.” She was taken “possibly in the middle of the night and that includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” his department said in a statement.

Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night in her home outside Tucson. She has limited mobility and needs to take medication daily or “it could be fatal,” Nanos said.

She had no cognitive issues, and her disappearance was not linked to dementia, he added, describing her as being “of sound mind” and “sharp as a tack.”

Guthrie’s family reported her missing around noon Sunday, setting off a search-and-rescue mission that included trained personnel, drones, an airplane, a helicopter, volunteers and search-and-rescue dogs lent from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“I think she was abducted,” Nanos told NBC News. “When you’re taken from your bed and you don’t want to go somewhere, that’s an abduction.”
Nanos said officials believe Guthrie was harmed when she was taken, but they did not provide other details.

“We know she was harmed at the home, but we don’t know to what extent,” he said.

Nanos has not provided additional details about the investigation. He has said investigators “saw some things at the home that were concerning to us” but did not offer specifics.

The community was devastated by her disappearance, Nanos told NBC News.

“This is just really sad for our community,” he said. “Savannah is family to us. She’s a big part of this community. Her family is devastated, the entire family. And you know, this just doesn’t happen in Tucson.”

Nanos confirmed that law enforcement officials are reviewing video from cameras at Guthrie’s home, where she lives alone and employs staff members. He urged neighbors to “go through their Ring cameras.”

Nanos asked members of the public to contact the sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900 if they have information about the case.

“I need this community to step up and start giving us some calls,” Nanos said.

Guthrie is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Her family last saw her at home around 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Saturday. She “is not in good physical health,” Nanos said.

Authorities are not aware of any threats against Savannah Guthrie, who is in Arizona. The FBI is aware of the case.

Monday’s broadcast of the “TODAY” show opened with an update on Guthrie, with co-anchor Craig Melvin calling it a “deeply personal story for us.”

In a statement reported on the air, Savannah Guthrie said in part: “I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support.”

“Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” she said in her statement. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at: 520-351-4900.”

Savannah Guthrie has frequently discussed her close relationship with her mother over the years.
“She loves us, her family, fiercely, and her selflessness and sacrifice for us, her steadfastness and her unmovable confidence, is the reason any of us grew up to do anything,” Savannah Guthrie said in a 2022 tribute to her mother on her 80th birthday.

In a Mother’s Day tribute on Instagram in 2024, Savannah Guthrie described her mother as “God’s first, best and most important gift to me.”

Guthrie’s father, Charles Guthrie, died when she was 16. She is one of three children.

Place your bets, now.

I find it extremely strange that he was prepared enough to have a
1. Mask
2 . Backpack
3. Gloves

And the dressings of a somewhat prepared robber/kidnapper.But for some reason, he was entirely unprepared for the ring camera(very common these days btw).........
It doesn't seem like he cased the place before he showed up.
A professional kidnapper would not be grabbing flowers from the yard to cover the camera.
Even in breaking bad, they used spray paint to cover the cameras.
Maybe the kidnapper was told there wasn't a Ring camera, because the Ring subscription bills weren't being paid. Somehow, Ring managed to give the authorities the footage from Nancy Guthrie's deactivated Ring camera. Which tells me that Ring films and saves a lot more footage than people think. You just don't get to see what was filmed from your Ring camera unless you pay Ring the subscription fees. The camera is still filming.

not really practical to use for a burglary
Never happens, nope.

You'll find plenty of results if you use your preferred search engine for signal jammer burglaries. Here's a couple.
South American crew used signal jammers, blowtorches and disguises on California crime tour, feds say (a)
Homeland Security Warns about the Spike in China-Based Technology Firms’ Smuggling of Signal Jammers (a)

Can anyone see notice anything retarded he's doing?
He's wearing gloves, but he's got a flashlight in his mouth. You're going to transfer DNA to the gloves when you take it out of your mouth, defeating the point of the gloves.
Why not use a BB gun to disable the camera before it captures you?
That was my first thought also, but a scoped air rifle is a bit sketchy to be carrying around because it doesn't break down into a compact package.

I'm still betting she wandered off and got lost. The son in law probably hired this dude on the Ring footage to distract us all from the Epstein files.

Welcome to the wild west of New age crime that uses crypto as the payment rails but has the same classic stupidity of old crime!

Seeing as it looks like payment was made this may give the world just what it's been waiting for: a glorious new wave of old school crimes like kidnappings.

A lot of people didn't believe the amouranth home invasion last year because they believe all crime and evidence should meet their strict criteria otherwise it is gayfabe... Well gamers I've got some bad news for you.

Edit: for those of you expressing surprise this would happen in God bless America land, it's been happening in tons of other places but usually targeting the family of known crypto holders. In this case it just looks like some faggot saw an opportunity to kidnap the family of a famous/wealthy person and then demand a ransom.

Signal jammers exist but they only work on a single frequency. A Wi-Fi router will just jump to another channel, especially on 5 GHz where a handheld device like that isn’t going to have enough power to jam out multiple channels at once.

Notice those hits are all on commercial establishments? Those jammers were probably used to disrupt CCTV, direct law enforcement hotlines, or some other fixed-channel station.

I sincerely hope that she is found safely and can be reunited with her family. But, and perhaps more importantly, I hope its found that her kidnapper is illegal and BROWN.

Don't get too excited. It could be a ransom false flagger. It could also be that someone told the feds that the person in the video "looks like" or "might be" the guy in the video. It doesn't mean they have the actual guy(s) yet.

I am betting on her being dead by now.

Also, could he have Asian eyelids?

JLR Investigates is on the ground in Pima, listening to the local stringer gossip and word is going around that the detainee is not a family member and was detained during a traffic stop. That's 100% unverified information, but it's interesting. He's just driving around Pima trying to find out what's going on.

Now I just want to stash signal jammers in random places all over work just to fuck with everyone lol. Also I want one on me for movies and concerts, you shall not scroll, phone fags.

Not quite as fun but much cheaper and easier: Years ago I taught a foreign language class to little kids once a week. One day I was just getting started with the lesson when alarms started going off all around me. The children had mini timers for running spelling drills with one another and they’d all set their alarms to go off a few minutes into class. The little timers were hidden in bookshelves, under chairs, inside desks, in the heating unit, everywhere. I was happy to be subjected to such a disruptive yet wholesome prank.

Please explain to me how using a 100% traceable currency is smart. Crypto is the least private currancy to ever exist. That's the whole point of it.
It depends how it is used.
"100% traceable" just means you can see what key a transaction went to, it doesn't automatically mean you know who owns or controls it or even if you do that you can do anything about it.

On top of that I never said it was smart. You seem to struggle with reading.

People say that Nancy is going to become the face of mass deportations, but Iryna didn't become the face of hard on crime policies and Charlie Kirk didn't become the face of cracking down on leftist terrorism. So, like usual, Trump's not going to take advantage of this incredible opportunity that was handed to him on a silver platter and is going to sit on his ass and let America rot.

Ring cameras are a part of the Flock Safety US surveillance network as of 4 months ago. It's 'opt in' if you actually want to share data that is requested, but that is the flimsiest barrier to access ever when all of these cameras feed into Amazon's servers. If the Ring cameras aren't on a subscription just assume they're still recording just in a limited capacity.
