No other modern cable type has given me difficulties, but for Display Port I did spend like $2-300 trying to find a cable that would work for my requirements. The cable that was included with the device worked fine, it took a bit of effort to find a longer cable that would work at high refresh rates.

While I guess I can understand paying more for a certification or other such awards of credibility (this is often what buying brand name over generic boils down to), I don’t particularly care enough to do so for some fucking cable. Also, I wonder how frequently they’re going to do QC checks moving forward? It could very well be the case the manufacturer maintains high standards at the start but starts to drop them as time goes on (also we don’t know the dud rate in general).

I highly recommend watching the video if you haven't already. It really puts into perspective how much of a phony Linus is. Louis also briefly touches on how Linus gives his employees near zero benefits and treats them like shit.
LTT is a media production company when tech practices favor the employee (Equity, growth opportunities), they're a tech company when media practices favor the employee (collective bargaining, creative independence and 'pet projects'), they're a small startup when big corporate activities favor the employee (Regular raises, robust HR protections) and a big corporation when startup behaviors would favor the employee (open compensation discussion and accommodating financial realities) and they're only wealthy when it'd benefit Linus (houses, jet, sportsball).
They could push him out for being PR poison. More likely they would muzzle him and keep him for obediently treating the workers like cattle, poignantly as Linus is blaming everything on capitalism despite not having shareholders to answer to.

I think something Jake said in his video hints at why. Linus and Yvone think they’re the only ones who sacrificed anything for the company, they are on their third house and are still patting themselves on the back still for work they started a decade ago, which fair enough, except they forget other people were involved too. They think they did everything alone and everyone except them has always been replaceable.
I mean Linus is kind of based in that way, I don't think any of the staff he hired deserves to be payed more then a minimum wage and most of them could be replaced by jets and no one would notice there wouldn't even be a quality drop.
