This email was almost definitely not written by Linus. It's way too nice, especially actually giving people money as compensation for a problem, which Western companies almost never willingly do.

Of course, now that I've said that, I'm sure Linus will find whoever wrote this and do his usual sperging about how paying customers aren't owed anything and we're all just evil adblock users, before terminating the employee in question and making him sign more NDAs.

Its surprising that "why I left LTT" didn't happen sooner, but, I notice it's only the on-screen personalities that have done it. Linus' ego preventing new on-screen talent may have saved LTT from the Buzzfeed route of all the writers realizing they could go their own way and do it themselves, and keep the audience that recognized them.
 
If the rumor is true Jake was only being paid 80k, then I'm happy that he realized he was being massively underpaid for 10+ years of skilled IT work/experience. (In one of the most expensive cost of living areas in the world no less.)

10+ years at the IT level he was doing can and does clear 100-160k+ in a lot of markets. LTT refusing to even match competing offers is lmao amateur hour worthy.

Hope he is able to find a place that can actually pay him what he is worth.

Especially if that's 80k CAD. No wonder he uses his own employees for labor around his mcmansions. They're cheaper than actual insured contractors that know wtf they're doing.

Thats such a low salary. Vancouver is higher than Toronto (though the gap is closing) salary wise and Jake (def not entry if he was there as long as he was, clearly showed some semblance of initiative and independence as a worker) is waaaaay under paid even by Toronto standards.

Do you know why there are so many dicksuckers? Because ltt maximizes the amount of "hey, we're putting together computers and we're friends" time and Linus realized he could maximize that to build up brand loyalty as well as underpay staff. Viewers probably think staff get company shares... Haha

Linus is many types of nigger but a cheap and greedy nigger is the primary one.

It's frustrating how often he praises smart technology although it's just an excuse to farm optics with tech-ignorant people. Anyone decently versed in tech understands that "smart" technology is meant primarily for data collection and for excusing implementing internet on devices that don't need it to push updates that break the hardware/add monthly subscriptions.

LTT has become the most mainstream "tech guy" for normies, so when he says that the future of home-ownership is having a home full of smart technology that must have access to your every movement and word in order to make your life so much better (like the sci-fi movies their kids talk about), they usually bite.

I don't know about all this. I kind of feel like smart shit already peaked a few years ago and people are just exhausted with all the apps and retarded shit involved.

Apparently the technology has developed enough that LTT felt the need to make an entire new series buying a house to make a tech house, which he said himself would include all the new "smart technology." I agree that not much has changed in the smart technology market, but apparently LTT sees enough of a viewership interest that he's willing to invest millions into this new project.

I have also seen some rich people who love to show it off. I think the AI craze has especially opened people up to the "capabilities" of tech, so being able to say you have a thermostat that will auto-adjust with AI is some weird new flex now.
 
I watched a video of a recent ex employee that said he was fed up being refused a basic salary increase while working on his bosses 3rd house for content.
 
Why pay 1 good and loyal and actually valuable employee what they're worth when you can instead hire 5 jeets to fill out your massive money pit lab so they can, like, do stuff?
