The police would not allow my car to be towed from what has been my residence for the past 8 months.

Lastly, for the most obvious question: I was not held in jail. When someone is arrested, they are arraigned, then released with or without bond. I was detained and arraigned from around 8am to 4pm. Then, I explained here how I had to retrieve my phone and keys from the police station when they opened, and then my car from the residence where it was parked.

Now let's think together why I was immediately released. This is the first time I have ever been arrested in my life. Meanwhile, the police are well familiar with the abode where I used to reside. I am not allowed to mention anyone specifically by name, so have this smarter kids explain that one to you if you still don't get it.

A judge will consider prior record most importantly FTA as well as they will impose restrictions such as no alcohol no non prescription medicines or narcotics must surrender firearms and must report to a court mandated sanctioning office and if applicable wear a monitoring device

Im not licensed to practice law in Vermont and am not privy to the police report but if if was me defending someone like this id happen to mention that complainant is currently in part whatever for his own DV case and had a history with Rutland PD hinting toward self defense and mutal combat at a minimum again I didn't see any report so I cant say and because tarl is a fragile woman I expect the DV case to stay sealed.
