Kiwis what are our thoughts on American being an ethnicity rather than just nationality, similar to what Rousseau types spew? Can you even measure such a thing? Do blacks count, do browns count? Would it only be the Protestant English whites of the colonial era?
There's no reason you can't have a category for white Americans and black Americans, they're distinct from their African counterparts in the same way most white Americans are distinct from Europeans.

Americans are an ethnicity denied. In the time since the United States was founded numerous other peoples have come to form an identity based on ethnicity. If you want good examples of this look to the Germans, Italians and Macedonians. The first two identified more with their local regions rather then a larger centralized idea of what they were before their respective states were unified and the Macedonians only started expressing any notion of nationalism in the late 1800s.

The Founding Fathers laid the foundation for what Americans as a people were to be. Nativists of the 19th century knew what Americans were. Progressives who complained about hyphenated people with dual loyalites in the early 1900s knew what Americans were. They weren't alone either, but these are two prominent historical groups that come to mind on the matter . Cultures and traditions aren't cogs in a machine to be replaced and a country's population is more then just one giant economic unit. If the United States is to be treated forever by detached elites and rootless individuals as an idea, it does not bode well for it's long-term health, especially if the immigrants that keep flowing into it have pre-established religious, cultural, ethnic or racial identities themselves and see no need to assimilate into the larger body of society as a whole.

I generally feel that anyone that can embody the ideals of the founders of this nation should be able to call themselves an American. The idea of American as an "ethnicity" is rather retarded however.

If leftoids are concerned about divisiveness, I can think of few things more divisive than the practice of terming people "x-american". As soon as you're American, you're not longer x. Jimmy carr did a great bit about it in his recent US tour.

A dude asked him (in an American accent) how to deal with his American wife as a brit. Jimmy said "hang on, how long have you been here?" The guy responded "10 years". Jimmy retorted "if America is a melting pot then you are well and truly melted. You are an American"

Also, there's some weird disease in SE Asia and India that's very contagious with no known cure. So far, it hasn't spread to the US and I'd prefer the Jeet Germs stay away permanently.
Here's a story about Nipah Virus (the aforementioned Jeet Germs ™️):

If they had evidence implicating Trump, they wouldn't need to break the law to try and stich Trump up.
Most average people I know who aren't rabidly partisan feel that any evidence implicating Trump would have been released long before now or disseminated as some sort of leak or hack.

The activists ran the license plate of my Uber drive in their database to check if he is an ICE agent , this very well organized , I asked them directly about this
If I recall, there were a number of government officials in the Minneapolis anti-ICE group(s). I'd wager 500 quatloos one of them has access to license plate information and is using their insider access to run plates for the group with their inside access. It's funny how a jilted ex doing this is a horrible stalker but an anti-government activist doing this is stunning and brave. 🤡

"oops, we forgot to redact some of the metadata! our bad!" is there a single thing pam bondi can do right.
In all honesty, I think there were so many documents to be released on such a tight deadline that metadata sanitizing was an afterthought. Courts have the misguided belief the government can just snap their fingers to make things happen and comply with rulings. That's just not going to happen - especially with all the bureaucratic red tape associated with Federal government.

Looks like kino is back on the menu
Let's see how many of those "legal observers" really are just peacefully protesting now.
Imagine if DHS had bodycam of that agent that shot Good. Would have killed that fucking narrative within 30 minutes of the first idiot twitter or facebook post.
Slightly ninja'd, but I was going to ask how long before activists demand body cameras be discontinued when they show footage of justifiable force and arrests

Doesn't the Rekieta case set the precedent that none of the footage has to be released?
I have no idea about that, but law enforcement has and will release footage if it clearly shows their officers were in the right.

Example: During the 2020 summer of love, activists in Detroit claimed police shot a poor dindu sixteen times in the back for no good reason. Then Chief Craig was so incensed by the lies, he immediately released body cam footage to the media. Not only did it prove the activists were lying, it also showed the person wanted by the cops was shooting at them before he was shot by return fire - and not in the back.

Lol this nigger's state shares a 550 mile border with Canada, but here he is flat out saying the only reason to have border security is those damn dirty spics south of the border. You can't make this shit up!
He also seems oblivious that bad actors are taking advantage of the fact the US-Canada border tends to be easier to cross than the US-Mexico border generally speaking. But why let facts get in the way of a media soundbite, right?

The ideals of the founders were that Americans were whites descended from western European nations, with a strong emphasis on anglos.

So yeah, a white American being a specific ethnicity would track with their ideas.

A truncated quote from a book I'm reading that seems quite timely:
“You see everyone you meet as a threat?”
“Everyone you meet is a threat as well, You’re just too young to see it yet. You still think that society, civilization, law, these imaginary fortresses you’ve constructed, are something solid. They can vanish in a day. I’ve seen it. Over and over. Last summer, you saw it, too. That’s what history looks like, There’s been an unusually long quiet spell. And sometimes I forget that you’re young enough to have grown up in that. That you see a largely peaceful world as normal. It isn’t. Peace is easy to lose. Hard to get back. And history is on the wind.”

He's not wrong that bodycams should have been implemented long ago.
They should have moved on it the moment stuff escalated, and especially when what's-her-name was shot.

We already see from police bodycams that most shots are perfectly reasonable. In fact, it showed how insanely violent some aggressors actually are. The same is the case with this shit. Hopefully the existence of bodycams on ICE and Border Patrol de-escalates this purposeful Communist aggression.

The United States was at conception, a generally White Anglo-Saxon Protestant project and it has now been shared with the world for better and for worst:

I'm fine with agreeing to disagree on if Americans should have a solid idea of if its a people or not but it has to be stated that while the idea of American nationalism can be seen as radical, unobtainable and far-fetched in the current political status quo, it can also just as easily be said that the stance of anyone that can "uphold the ideals of the Founders" can be an American has the possibility of being distorted to the point of the extreme which can be seen in how liberal activist judges use their power to advance a destructive political agenda while quoting the Founding Fathers and immigrants with little connection to the land sell out the country while giving platitudes about long dead men they have no little intention to truly honor.

When HHH speaks, world leaders rush to act.
I still can't see shit.

Once again I come to you to say: IT IS INSANE THAT WE HAVE NOT FAST TRACKED FUNDING FOR ICE BODYCAMS.

Culture is also down stream of demographics. The people who can "be included" are exceptions among their brethren and too many of them will change and damage the culture and country, as we're seeing. Civic nationalism is a meme to make boomer type conservatives feel comfortable that they're not being too racist.

If they actually pull this shit off, the odds of Reps winning the midterms shoot up by at least 80%, and you can basically call 2028 a foregone conclusion.
Especially if SCOTUS kills the VRA.

Would it not get struck down by SCOTUS immediately?
The idea is state's rights can have different setups for state elections/reps and if they want to have ID it's up to them, but for a national election (prez), an act of Congress is 100% ok because it's federal for federal. The benefit is if you make it for federal, more often than not you need to keep it for state just because why would you check ID for president but not for rep or senator. Instead of working bottom-up, go top-down.

And if you catch fraud in a place like CA just not checking for federal voting, easier to not allow it if states and judges would ever have the balls to enforce.

You also get easy ammo when every democrat will vote against it because they want your beautiful oak door burned down by rapefugees.

Saw a copy of the NYT at local library. It claimed that the passing of Pretti "burst a dam", and "shattered the government's story". And IIRC, the "first to be killed by ICE agents". I immediately thought that's BS, as Pretti was trying to assault officers, and I think only the loony left is losing it over this. So tl;dr: the soy'd MSM is lying?

ethnicity is genetic, biological, physical, material. it's in your blood, it's immutable.
nationality is political, it's in the realm of ideas and creeds. it can be gained and lost and changed depending on outside circumstances.
