Someone on /vst/ put it pretty well, this Error Log guy seems like an industry plant or something, popped out of nowhere, quite bizarre.

Maybe? So much of HoI4 happens on discord now it's possible he just got traction there. Moreover, if Paradox wanted to clean house, they not only have more direct methods, but they could have done better than sending a zoomer/Gen Alpha with SSRI vocal fry after not even the biggest HoI4 mods.

Going by his youtube post history it looks like he announced the Great War redux vid was in editing two days after the release of his first video, so at the very least these aren't spontaneous and he's been working on them for a while.

Well, I did a quick AI-only run of the new update, and there's not much here. Outside of AfD Germany getting a new presidential candidate after the 1EW called Albrecht Glaser (Pictured below) and the Italian tree, I'm not exaggerating when I say that I could've made this update myself in under a week. France is automatically forced to support the Arabian Republic despite their focus tree letting them choose either the Republic or MBS, Gaddafi gets elected in late 2021 and doesn't invade Tunisia until after the Maghreb war (Which is Morocco against Algeria, Tunisia, Mauretania, and Western Sahara with Russia supporting the latter vs Germany and France supporting the former), and the only decisions you get to support your side are just sending equipment and convincing other people in your faction to send volunteers.

The only other thing of note is one single event for the new EU tag which occupies a tiny province next to Brussels that elects anyone from AuthDems to LibSocs into the European Parliament, and the new German economic system which while cool, doesn't exactly matter much if you're playing as anyone other than democratic Germany.

Gaddafi didn't even invade Algeria in my game by the way, he took over Tunisia in mid-2023 and France invaded him right after the 1EW, this might have something to do with Algeria having won the war in my game though. Despite this being a facelift for the EU, you still can't stabilize the Syrian and Serbian administrations, and invading Iran while it has Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen in its faction defaults to a normal peace deal rather than a scripted one, this happened to me in the last version before the update too.

The former lead dev of the Up With The Stars submod for Kaiserreich, who was kicked for supposed “transphobia”, has made a statement on the subreddit saying the mod is dead, and he has ‘revoked permission’ for the new team to work on the mod.

I'm not 100% sure on the story. It's been about a year and I was pretty contained to the writing chat. I believe the original developer wasn't supportive enough of the trans agenda and the community manager who was transgender and group of pro-transgender developers organized a "riot" in the discord then developed into them issuing a ultimatum for him to hand over control and leave. Which he complied with, because felt like he had no choice.

Since then they have cut back massively the original scope was Mexico and the Philippines which they have drop. Even though I was told that the majority of the coding was done for those countries and the writing was all that was left. Supposedly the majority of the writing for CSA, MacArthur America and PSA was completed and AUS and Southern alliance of governors was all that was left to write. From what I can tell they are reworking almost everything and develop as dried up. But I could be wrong.

So much conflict over something that isn't even a full mod...

I meant in terms of actual content, optimization is good and all but we're not talking about Millennium Dawn here where every single line of code you can shave off matters. There is surprisingly little in terms of actual content that the player interacts with, the highlight of the update is the German economic system and only because it adds flavor and worldbuilding. Here's hoping American Experiment doesn't disappoint.

I'd say you're not far off that estimation from my understanding of the dev channels it's only been very very recently been decided that 1.3 will be a full Europe rework Vs 1.1 and 1.2 being American and Asian respectively. Id say they only implemented this update just to make the 1.3 update smoother to integrate since nearly all European middle Eastern content was czars baby originally and clearly this update reduces the friction between the two continents.

Interesting. The US side of Requiem described of TNOR was described to me as a total rework. The claimed onus was to create a more radical America. In public leaks the NPP was cut and replaced with a different party that pops up after game start.

Still strange. Even if it would take a long time, why would they split off into a submod? That's almost too drastic of decision. If you keep it internal, at worst you'll have an ugly merge request because someone forgot to keep their git branches up to date.
