There is been debates on Xitter about translations. What also irks me is how many people argue for localization in bad faith. Like a line could be translated as something fundamentally different than the original meaning, totally distinct in function and tone, and you'll still get dipshits pulling out good ol' "there's no such thing as a direct translation." or "はい can be translated a few different ways, therefore all of translation is just vibes and creative liberties."
You'd think if you were a fan of a product, you'd want the most unadulterated, authentic version of it, right? Like nu Fire Emblem fans will go on and on about how much they lovedrawing the characters as troonsthe series and the games, but then turn around and sperg out at anyone who cares complain about the shit translation. They just want a more authentic version of the series you like, shouldn't you be on board with that? Do they actually prefer the God awful localization or is it just about sticking it to the chuds?
A lot of people are defending shitty localizations and translations pretty much just because people they don't like are advocating for more true translations.
They common "gotcha" is "just learn Japanese then"
Tax
HE'S A FUCKING ROBOT.
