Breaking: Trump to suspend all US certification for Canadian aircraft if they do not certify Gulfstream products

Why won't the leafs certify Gulfstream products: Gulfstream aircraft are currently not up to the deicing code required by the TCAA. Why this is I'm not entirely sure. The Gulfstream deicing systems are pretty typical, electric heat for windows, and bleed air for cowls and leading edges. Maybe its because they use an ice detector instead of visual confirmation? Not sure.
Does this problem exist anywhere else: No. Gulfstream products are certified for the United States via the FAA, and Europe via EASA. Both nations certified for locations that include similar levels of extreme cold.
What will be the impact: Immense. The majority of regional airline aircraft, and small firefighting aircraft are Bombardier products. Trump's act here would cripple regional air travel. I cannot overstate how immense of a shutdown this would be for the airlines. Conversely, the impact of Gulfstream is minimal. Its the most expensive business jet, and thus has lower marketshare and is not an economic powerhouse. This would however, be very ugly for Bombardier as the US is its largest customer.
Ultimately, I don't know enough about the deicing issue to say if this is a good or bad move. Right now I lean towards questioning if this is the hill to die on; seems unwise.
