This gets posted a ton, but I'll just give a real-life example for fun.
Take modern Star Trek. It's gay, it's overly flashy yet somehow also overly dark, it has modern lingo that even Gen-Alpha kids would find cringy, and it's very openly communist.
A leftist will look at this and say, "Star Trek was always progressive! Muh black woman officer! Muh Russian navigator! Muh secretly gay Cardassian!"
If you try to explain to them how being progressive in the '60s and '90s is different from being progressive now, as well as how even in its progressivism, the Federation was always about recruiting the best of the best and not literal fat autists, they'll just pretend not to get it. "What do you mean there's a difference? Progressivism is progressivism! Love is love!"
They know they're wrong. They just don't give a flying fuck because it's easier to play rhetorical word games than just admit that Hollywood's Overton window has significantly shifted.
 
Star Trek was progressive but rational and optimistic, so it believed meritocracy would inevitably produce diversity in the ranks. The modern progressive has lowered expectations.

People don't realize it and I've mentioned it in passing before, but the French don't fuck around. What they call protests are riots and their riot police do not fuck around. They happily shoot people in the crowd with rubber bullets and there have been a few controversies. In 2014, an "activist" name Rémi Fraisse was at a protest against the construction of a dam and he got domed by a teargas grenade, which killed him. Then, in 2018, some old lady named Zineb Redouane was closing her window as a riot was going on and a teargas canister hit her in the face and killed her. In both cases, the cops were charged but cleared.

I understand this thread is supposed to be a circlejerk, but this is the US politics general, and you guys are complaining about a guy coming in to talk about his dislike of the US president. Maybe ask the mods to rename it to the President Trump Appreciation general. You guys believe everything is "in bad faith" if it goes against the diehard Trump Loyalist grain. The most entertaining thing you can do here is post something the rest of the site accepts as true like "Indians are bad" and watch the cows flood out of their pen to defend Vivek, defend Vance sticking his penis into shit, defend Trump lying about the job market or employment rate, so on and so forth. You usually don't even read it, you just check the username and apply a sticker. You're Green Reddit.
